Question about Apple iPod nano 3rd Generation

IPod nano connection to iTunes

Why is my iPod Nano not connecting to iTunes??
When I connect it doesn't give me the usual options but goes straight to the 'register iPod' screen and also asks me to set up an iTunes account. I don't need to do either so what's happening??

Thanks for any help.

There are several reasons why your iPod Nano may not turn on or awake out of its "Sleep Mode." This can be extremely irritating if you wish to use your iPod Nano, but the device is constantly malfunctioning. You may not need to take your iPod Nano in to be repaired if the player doesn't turn on as normal. There are a variety of different fixes that you can attempt as a way to get the Nano to turn on.

Flip the iPod Nano's "Hold" switch to "OFF." The iPod Nano cannot be turn on if the switch is set to "ON." Reset the iPod Nano. Move the "Hold" switch to "ON" and then "OFF." Then, press down the "Select" and "Menu" buttons on the Nano. Hold those buttons for about eight seconds. The Apple logo will then become visible on the iPod Nano. Once this occurs, try turning the iPod Nano on once again. Connect the iPod Nano to an iPod charger or a computer that is turned on via the iPod Nano's USB cord. Charge the Nano for at least 30 minutes. Then, try to turn the Nano on. Update the iPod Nano's software. Connect the Nano to your computer via the player's USB cable. Open iTunes, and click the iPod Nano's name on the left part of iTunes. Click the "Summary" option at the top of iTunes. Then, click on the "Check for Updates" button that's positioned in the middle of iTunes. Follow the instructions that appear inside iTunes in order to install the updates on the Nano.

The problem is, i want to put music from my laptop onto my apple ipod 4GB a1051, how do i do that please?

The following information has come directly from the apple support web site.

Adding Content Automatically or Manually
There are two ways to add content to iPod nano: ? Automatic syncing: When you connect iPod nano to your computer, iPod nano is automatically updated to match the items in your iTunes library. You can sync all your songs, playlists, videos, and podcasts, or, if your entire iTunes library doesn’t fit on iPod nano, you can sync only selected items. You can sync iPod nano automatically with only one computer at a time. ? Manually managing iPod nano: When you connect iPod nano, you can drag items individually to iPod nano and delete them individually from iPod nano. You can add songs from more than one computer without erasing songs from iPod nano. When you manage music yourself, you must always eject iPod nano from iTunes before you disconnect it.

The following URL will bring you to the iPod Nano manual. For more information on setting up you iPod see chapter 2: Setting up iPod Nano

http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_nano_5th_gen_UserGuide.pdf

I hope that information above has helped is some way.
If possible please rate this solution.

Won't turn on

Is your iPod fully charged? Sometimes the batteries become so depleted of charge that an accessory charger won't turn it on.

-Try plugging it in to your computer or a wall charger for a while, time will vary but it may turn on.

-If it is not turning on your computer will never recognize it, thus you won't be able to do a restore with iTunes.

-Try a hard restart as well this could help you.

How to down load a song to my appleipod nano 2gb?

To download songs to iPod nano: m Simply connect iPod nano to your computer. If iPod nano is set to update automatically, the download begins. Important: The first time you connect iPod nano to a computer, a message asks if you want to transfer songs automatically. If you accept, all songs, audiobooks, and other items are deleted from iPod nano and replaced with the songs and other items from that computer. If you don’t accept, you can still download songs to iPod nano manually without deleting any of the songs already on iPod nano. While music is being downloaded from your computer to iPod nano, the iTunes status window shows progress, and the iPod nano icon in the Source list flashes red. When the download is complete, a message in iTunes says “iPod update is complete.” If you set iTunes to download music manually, you can reset it later to update iPod nano automatically. For more information, see “Updating iPod nano Manually” on page 22. To reset iTunes to update iPod nano automatically with all songs and playlists: 1 Open iTunes and select iPod nano in the Source list. 2 Click the Options button and click Music. 3 Select “Automatically update all songs and playlists.” The download begins automatically.
