Question about Sony KP-53HS30 53" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem as shown below. Doing so will only make things worse. If however your TV does not have a convergence problem those tips may help.
Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in all directions your conHow can I go to convergence adjustment mode of - 2c07611.pngips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

I'm sorry to say that Jean is off on this one. This sounds like a convergence
issue and cannot be fixed with these knobs. If you set looks like the pictures shown most likely the STK chips (possibly other components) are blown as explained in Ecullier2012's posting. If the
convergence went bad suddenly and or you cannot fix it with
the convergence adjustments on the set, most likely that is the
problem. If it moved slightly out over time then most likely you will
be able to fix it through the convergence menu on the set. Many things
can go wrong with TV
sets and you should really do a lot of research before attempting any
adjustment and or repair. There are high voltages present and they can
reside even when the set is unplugged. I also have a posting about the STK
chips in another section that may help explain things.
