When trying to upgrade to skype 4 inot only lost my origional skype but also got the folling message.
could not creat keyskypeskype contentshellnew verify that you have sufficiant access to that key or contact your local support personel.(Microsoft were of no use)
abort retry ignore
none of these 3 options do anything so i am totally stuck and noy able to contact my young grand daughter in NZ please help.

If you are using the latest version, v5, then try
uninstalling and reinstalling the software. If you are using an older version
If using Vista this fix may also help:
1. Exit Skype on your PC
2. Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\\Application
3. Delete your account (I deleted all my accounts)
4. Launch the Skype
If you are still having issues then contact Skype directly.
