Hi, we'll need a bit more info. As RescueTechLA asked above, we need to know what OS you're using. Also, what part of OpenOffice are you in? The word processor (OpenOffice.org Writer)...spreadsheet (OpenOffice.org Calc)...presentation (OpenOffice.org Impress)?

Finally, do you see red squiggly lines under misspelled words? If so, what happens when you right-click on one of those?

Get back with any answers and I'd be glad to help...

What happens when you press F7? It may that you have turned the automatic feature off - which displays the squiggly line...

Or you need to install the dictionary?

I AMHAVING MICROSOFT 2003 WORD IT DOES NOT CHECK SPELLING. HOW TO MAKE IT CHECK SPELLING.

Select some text in the document that contains a known mispelling. Under Tools > Language, look at the box for "do not check spelling or grammar." If
it is gray or checked, uncheck it. Run the spell check.

This is a text-specific setting, like bold or italics. It does not apply to
a computer, an instance of Word, or even an entire document. This is
different from the setting under Tools > Options > Spelling and Grammar,
which applies to all documents opened (but does not override the
text-specific settings).

If this is the problem, you can clear the problem up by selecting your
entire document (Ctrl-A) and unchecking the box.

Please, if the problem continues, use Office update, or re-install the product.
Good luck!
