Reinstalled windows on Dell laptop, can't get to internet
It think it's missing the driver to be able to get to the internet connection (won't connect directly through ethernet cable or wirelessly). I can't get the drivers because i can't get on net. Dell gave me the link for drivers, but i tried to download with my daughter's computer (not a Dell) and save to a usb drive so i could try to get it to the other computer. It isn't on the Usb and now i'm worried I've added confusing drivers her laptop and still can't get my laptop connected.

you need to reinstall the drivers for your network, such as the ethernet and the wireless drivers. try to check if you still have the dell resource cd drivers disc. you need to insert that disc and check for the network drivers install them one at a time. if you no longer have the drivers disc then you can download it from a diff computer that has an internet connection. this is the website http://support.dell.com
click on the drivers and download and click on the green icon to enter the service tag. after that it will display all the drivers. you can download just the network first and save it to a storage device. then install that to your computer and download the rest of the drivers after you connected to the internet.
go to support.dell.com and download the modem driver to an external media (cd, thumb drive, etc.).
then right click 'my computer' and go to properties then device manager. you should be able to go to the modem and update the driver from a specific location and then point it to the external media you have downloaded the driver to.
