You have to plug the speakers into the computer to get sound out of them. The CPU has nothing to do with the speakers, Also your monitor does not have inbuilt speakers(according to the manufacturers website.)
Look for a green 3.5mm port (the size of a headphone jack) on the back of your tower and connect that with an audio cable to the computer's speaker output (probably a green plug also on most PC's) If the monitor speakers have their own power supply make sure they are also plugged in and powered on.
You don't write which operating system you use, but generally you should be able to choose where the sound output goes in the Sound Properties in Control Panel. If however Sony decided to put some special software that does the thinking for you, and directs the sound output via the HDMI when connected, then you have to dig deeper...
As long as there is a connection to the PC by a cable on some that goes from the monitor to the PC or is inbuilt in the monitor connector. Check WINDOWS Ctrl Panel SOUND and see what speakers it think it has installed and selevct appropriately. Also check that they are not MUTED increase the slide to MAX and remove the X from the box that mutes them
CHECK IF THE SOUND DRIVER HAS INSTALLED PROPERLY OR THE ONBOARD SOUNDCARD HAS BEEN DETECTED OR NOT.IF NOT DETECTED TRY THIS:
1.INSTALL XP AGAIN.
2.TRY REMOVING ALL SOUND RELATED APPLICATIONS AND RESTART THE MACHINE SEVERAL TIMES.
yes thats the fact when you plug a headphone into any speakers the head phone will be the only one to function the speaker stops thta the circuit technically which will break the connection of power to speaker if you plug head phone
