    Vista home premium: critical updates: error code 80070570 with update
    codes: kb2799494, kb2789646, kb2770660, kb2778344, kb2742601, kb2756919,
    kb2785220, kb2763674, kb2780091, kb2779562, kb2757638, kb2790655,
    kb2809289, kb2753842 and kb2807986, disk image error, disk check errors:
    160 & 176 in file 78907.1. clean/ clear cookies, trash and run register cleaner if have one, update malware / viralware and run it. then restart.2: F8 at startup3. pick repair your computer.4. System recovery options: I'm in the US so I picked keyboard US.5 Sign into system recovery options.6 pick start up repair7 reboot and attempt to load updates.

d3d9.dll is a DirectX9 error, firstly you need to have Service Pack 4, secondly install DirectX 9c:

Did you try uninstalling the last batch of updates?
To see the updates under "Add or Remove Programs", you'll need to check the appropriate box at the top.
If uninstalling does not help, you may have to start over.

Possible approaches to avoid the same issue when starting over:
  • Don't use SP3, unless you know that you *need* it. Check Wikipedia to decide whether you need it.
  • Install OS with SP2 and all updates, only then apply SP3.
  • Don't install all updates at once. Install them in batches of, say, 10 a batch. If the same thing happens, you know which batch was responsible.
