Philips AG2230 Turntable Speed Problem

It sounds like you have a magnetic brake. As the copper disk rotates
within the magnetic field a current is generated and creates it's own
magnetic field that opposes the the magnet's field. The greater the
speed of the disk the greater the opposition force. And the greater the
magnetic field engagement onto the disk the greater the force.

Adjustment of the magnet should place more or less of the pole pieces
covering the disk. The least magnetic field on the disk the least
retardation of the speed, the greater the field coverage the greater the
drag on the motor.

Sounds like you have some mechanical linkage investigative work in
