Hi, my HP LJ 1020 has recently been making a lot of noise. When I turn it on, it goes through the warm up and starts rolling the rollers. Also, when I tell it to print something, it rolls its rollers. While the rolling is going on, it makes a very annoying and terrifying noise. It almost sounds like a chopper motorcycle...except the 1020 is not a bike, its a printer.
I tried to air everything out, I checked to see if anything was stuck inside the printer and found nothing.

Re: Noise from HP LJ 1020
Change the gears , coz when the machine load or when you are printing the roller turn, and those roller has gears at the ends so when they are died they give those sounds, open the cover and try to detect which gear make this noise and change it.

Hi there, The noise your hearing is caused by your heating unit. We see this problem regularly. The Heating film is busy ripping/tearing and it will cause that noise and give jam errors coz there is a sensor inside the heating unit. You will need to take the printer in to a service center so that they can replace the heating Film. Shouldnt take to long to get fixed by a service agent.
LJ1020 is not a network printer. I think this printer connected to a local computer which may called as print server. and the printer connected to all other computers through this computer. if it so, Pl. let me know that whether the print finish its process when it was given from the Print server. if not, Pl uninstall the driver from the print server and reinstall.
As you mentioned that the printer makes loud grinding noise or squeaking when page comes out than i feel this is the noise coming out due to faulty fuser.
I want to be sure so please open the rear bin and try to print if still noise comes than i m sure it is fuser.
If there are smudges on the printed page or if some film coating is coming out with printed page than fuser roller are physically damage.
However in this case i assume fuser is faulty.
If there opening the rear bin noise goes off than top output rollers are faulty.
go in start then printer and faxes and then goes the properties of hp lj 1020 and give one print text page after the page will printing goes in advance then printing default then basics and then about then display the current page count from your printer you can note down this is in eveary day and then your can manage your print count
