Question about Hampton Bay AC434-WB 52'' Ponte Vecchio Weathered Bronze Ceiling Fan

Hampton Bay Ponte Vecchio ceiling fan light flickers

Hampton Bay Ponte Vecchio ceiling fan w/ remote was just installed. When lights are turned on, the down lights flicker once briefly and then turn on as normal. The up light operates normally. How do we fix the down light and eliminate the initial flicker?

Also, the fan comes with a solid-state remote device and the manual warns not to use a solid-state remote device. Why do you think it would come with a device that they warn you not to use?

Try swapping out the bulbs and see what happens. There are bulbs made specifically for ceiling fans that have heavier duty filaments in the bulbs, or you could use compact fluorescents. The warning about using a solid state control was referring to using a solid state dimmer at the wall switch.

Connecting wires

You are just missing one wire to all the circuits. The ones that work are good ... add the one wire that is not hooking up to the others to complete a serial circuit.

The problem is that the CFL lamps, once they are lit, will stay energized by a very low level of current, and the remote obviously is not what we would call a positive off device .. if you use the wall switch and then go back to the remote in the off position , do the lights come on flickering again? You could try another brand of remote.

Lights flicker when turned off by remote

I had this same problem with a Hampton Bay fan with a remote light switch. I call the manufacturer of the of the switch and was told that the model switch I had would not work correctly with CFL bulbs. The problem is with the dimmer function. You either need to change the bulbs to incandescent, or change the remote receiver in the ceiling. Hampton Bay was kind enough to send me a new receiver that works with CFL. The CFL units are white, and the incandescent is black. Hope this helps you.
