What kind of a remote can I purchase to replace the old remote? The input button stopped working and we can't use it without it.

A Phillips universal remote will work. Just program it for the TV Model. These are about $15 at Radio Shack.

How do i hook it up to my computer without a remote

"How do I hook up my computer without a remote?"

Two possibilities come to mind:

1. With a VGA (15 pin), HDMI, or DVI connected computer there should be a keyboard key combination (typically a Function button (Fn ) and one of the F1 thru F12 keys) that will activate the option for switching the video signal to the external monitor/TV, or in the case of a laptop, viewing the image on both screens. The TV's "INPUT" button, if there is one, will need to be pushed several times to cycle through the available input signals until the computer video signal input is seen.

2, Alternately, if there is no "INPUT" button, it may be possible to purchase an inexpensive universal remote (ones seen even at a local $1 Store) in able to access the TV menu. The remote will have programming instructions and codes for most major TV brands, and an Internet search, or the TV manufacturer, should provide for additional codes for your specific TV model if necessary.

Kindly post a reply if either of these options do work for you.

My input button wont work on my remote is there anyother way to switch to video input

The majority of Sharp televisions also have an input button located on the television itself. The tv panel buttons are normally on the right side of the television either along its side or at the very top in a hidden recessed area. Some of the newer tvs have the buttons on the front of the television on the right hand side.

Try resetting the remote control. My solution for that has worked for a lot of people http://www.fixya.com/support/t4671244-tv_not_respond_remote_control

But if the problem is that the remote itself is the problem then you'll need a new remote. Remote repair kits are sold and they come with solution and qtips but you have to open your remote and all... I'd rather just purchase a new remote. If the television is a year old or less the remote is covered under your warranty and Sharp will replace it.

A new remote is the simplest and best bet. I know of no way to repair a remote without making it irreparable. Though you might check the infrared LED i the front. Does the light on the remote illuminate when you press a button?(assuming it has that.)

INPUT MODE WITHOUT REMOTE

Hi
If you cannot reach the AV input mode by scrolling through the channel up down, nor is there is a source or TV/AV button on the set it self, then the news is bad I am sorry. You will need the remote to get AV inputs on this set.
You can get a new remote for the set from here for $1995. Plus postage. Note that it has the TV/AV button.
Happy to answer any questions you may have.

I get no picture from A/V cable inputs. No user guide available

Hello. One of those inputs are active. You would use the remote to switch between the inputs (and most likely cannot make changes without it). Go pick up one of the universal remotes and make sure that it has the "input" button on it. Follow the directions to get it to work with your tv, then just click the "input" button until you see your vcr or ps3. If you have a menu screen that pops up when you click on some buttons of the tv, the input selection will be in there also.

Toshiba 1782tb -input chanel flickers to another channel too much

If you cover up the end of the remote does this continue to happen or does it stop? If it stops try disassemblying the remote and clean the holes the touch pad buttons stick through. and the bottom of the pad. very gently spray the end of a cue tip with windex and lightly clean pad. make sure the windex does not have any other addatives in it ie furniture polish, silicone etc.

Cant get to input. front or back

A lot of universal remotes will not work some tv's. It sounds like you may have to replace the remote sensor within the tv.
