Question about Dell OptiPlex GX280 PC Desktop
I have a optiplex gx280 with a gateway monitor
i just got this computer off of ebay and went i turn it on the monitor stay black didnt see anything come up on it at all i have the key bord and mouse hook up i can hear the fan running on the computer on the monitor all i see is monitor self test , your monitor is work correctly , check computer power and monitor cable i dont know if the hard drive is working or not the fan is so load to hear anything
Solid Amber Power LED is indicative of a Motherboard failure. Replace the motherboard.
The GX280 is one of many motherboards made during that time period that may have had capacitors that could fail due to a manufacturing defect if the capacitor. Check the capacitors on the motherboard to see if the tops are popped (there is a X engraved across the top of each capacitor, it the X is open, then the capacitor is bad.)
