If the needle is hitting the hook under your bobbin case, your machine is out of time. Unfortunately, unless you are familiar with this particular repair, you will need to take it to a qualified repair technician. You can however try a new needle and make sure that it is in properly. If the needle is not bent, then I am afraid you will need to take it in to be repaired.

What does it mean when the motor jams and the needle is hitting the bobbin case?

Make sure the needle is put in the right direction and a new one. Also, check the bobbin to make sure it is one that fits properly.

Your sewing machine is likely to be out of timing. This means the needle goes under the throat plate to pick up the bottom thread but it is going at the wrong time. The bottom and top have to be synchronized. This is a problem that usually requires the replacement of gears. Anyway, it isn't a home fix problem.

I just bought it and its sounds like metal getting hit by the needle, and the thread bunches up underneath fabric.

if it is brand new then have it fixed under warranty
if used then it appears that the needle/bobbin timing is out with the needle hitting the bobbin carrier ot the hook hitting the needle.
bunching up of thread under the material is a sign of upper tension to light
suggest that you have a service done to fix it.

Needle breaking

Is the needle all the way up? Are you sure it's actually hitting the bobbin? It MAY--and quite possibly IS--inserted too low in the needle clamp. Make absolutely sure that it's all the way up. Another factor can be your foot--make sure that it's properly inserted and tight, because it's probably hitting the foot and breaking--not the bobbin. In addition, it could be hitting the needle plate. You can determine WHERE it's breaking by manually turning the hand wheel--ALWAYS towards you--several times to see the position of your needle relative to the foot and needle plate.

I have a Thompson PW 201 machine . It will not sew through more than one piece of material. I have been using this machine to sew through four pieces of vinyl and never had any problems. Now if iI try...

it sounds like to me that the timing is off, check to see how close the needle is to hitting the bobbin when it comes down through the table. that metalic clunk is probably the needle hitting the bobbin holder, OR the bobbin.. check for a bent needle also..

Needle hits the bobbin holder and doesn't grab the bobbin thread

Check you have the right size bobbin case the gap where the needle enters should be 13mm approx at the widest point. A lot of other pfaff bobbin cases seem to fit and can be easily be mistaken. I have two pfaffs and have accidentally mixed the cases and had a similar problem.

A bent needle will hit the metal. If it continues you will need to adjust the needle carrier. hopefully that isn't bent, but if so I don't believe that the replacement of it will be too costly.

With the needle hitting the bobbin case , it sounds like it might be out of time. Which I am sorry to say is not an easy at-home fix.

Needle & Bobbin out of sync

This description sounds like the machine is out of time. The needle should match up with a cut out section in the bottom of the bobbin area. If it is hitting, the timing has slipped, probably from sewing on a fabric that was too heavy for the machine.
