Hello,

It almost sounds like you may be having power issues with your motherboard or other serious issues.

The model you have given is for a notebook. In which case you need to replace the motherboard with exactly the same motherboard.

Diagnosing motherboard issues are diffucult due to the nature that there are not many tools you can use that will give you definitive answers.

I would suggest bringing the laptop to a qualified Toshiba Repair Tech or Toshiba Repair Depot.

Good Luck.

Screen remains black when coming out of sleep mode asus a8n-vm cms motherboard

IT is most probably windows 7 issue. I saw problem with desktop computers coming back from sleep for many times.

I advice you to avoid sleep. If that is not issue, first test memory, cause sleep stores everything to the memory.

Please tell which OS you use ? As said on start it might be Windows 7 ...

The BIOS has been erased, I do not have floppy, but i want to write the bios

In order to write a BIOS, you would have to have acess to very expensive equipment as well as be amazingly good at whatever programming language they use to write BIOS (something like Assemly or some other hardware-level language). In short, you can't do it.
See the motherboard drivers section for a listing of computer motherboard manufacturer driver and BIOS update pages or our support section for computer manufactures.
Unlike earlier computers that date before 1996, new computers have a Flash BIOS which enables users to update the BIOS chip on motherboard using a software program. These programs have the capability of correcting issues that may be occurring with your computer hardware. These issues can include, but are not limited to, the below corrections.
  • Add the capability of adding new hardware into the computer.
  • Additional options or corrections to the BIOS setup screen.
  • Correcting issues with incompatibility with hardware.
  • Update hardware capacity and capabilities.
  • Missing information or instructions.
  • Update a startup logo.
Older computers who need an update for the Year 2000 issue

Only obtain the BIOS update from the computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer, unless the computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer is no longer in business.

Do not shut off or reboot the computer until the BIOS instructs you to do so.

Verify that the BIOS you have been instructed to use or the one that you are downloading will resolve the issue you are attempting to fix. Remember that BIOS updates will only fix hardware issues and will not fix software issues, unless that software is directly related to the hardware.

Verify the BIOS version and make sure that the BIOS update you plan on using is the next version. For example, if your BIOS is 1.0a, and the manufacturer has 1.0b, 1.0c, 1.0d, etc. You should be updating to 1.0b. If you need 1.0d, update to 1.0b, 1.0c and then 1.0d unless otherwise instructed by your computer or motherboard manufacturer.

Verify that the computer has been scanned for viruses, viruses that may reside in the write-able portion of the BIOS may cause the BIOS to abort or fail, possibly causing the computer to encounter additional issues.

If you are updating a laptop or portable computers BIOS ensure that it has AC power and is not running off the battery.

Finally, when upgrading a BIOS, it is important that your read the disclaimer and any other information or instructions included with the download. Many computer manufactures will not support a BIOS if done by the user of the computer without the instructions of a technician or company representative. If the BIOS causes any difficulty with the computer you may be held responsible.

How do I download a BIOS update without a working computer?

If you are unable to get to the Internet in order to download a BIOS update we suggest downloading and creating a BIOS diskette on a different computer. For example, a friends computer or a computer at your work.

When i press power buttton computer will on and suddenly turned off i try the same thing second time power is on but no display

Hi,
I see your concern is that your computer will not power ON but if it does it does not show anything at all on the screen.
Reseat the RAM on you motherboard also clean the heatsink and FAN of teh processor and at the same time reseat the Processor as well.
If the issue is still the same and you do not see anything on the screen, if you have a video card remove it then try using the built in Video on the motherboard if it show video on the screen using the built in video card then the issue will be the Expansion video card you have.

My computer turns on shows the black hp screen and then immediately goes black with a cursor in the upper left screen

I have had this problem and have been one of the lucky few to get round it, however i believe i may know the cause or part of the cause for this, and a way to get round it hopefully. I got this issue after an unfortunate power cut, the system started up but then shut down again unexpectedly, after that i got this 'black screen of death', i then went on to many forums to find out the best options for solving this, i knew there was a definate way to fix the problem with a full destructive recovery with the recovery partition you get with vista, however i didn't want to lose all my data so when the computer starts up tap f8 until you get several menu options. the top option should be 'repair my computer', you should now have a very basic log in window which has your username, (if you have no password just press enter). now you should have several options of recovering or repairing your PC. the most successful so far is a normal windows restore which takes the computer back a few days, i would recommend a week to 2 weeks if available. once completed this should get rid of the 'black screen of death'. once logged on run command prompt with administrative properties then type in 'sfc /scannow' this will hoefully find anything else which is currupt. i have found the main reason for this is actually vista's own way of performing better... on most people with this problem i spoke to had an option enabled on the hard drive by default : 'Enable write caching on the disk' : 'this setting improves disk performance, but a power outage or equipment failure might result in data loss or curruption' this option can be found by going into device manager - find your primary hard drive, right click, properties, policies. this is the closest ive found to a cause of this 'black screen of death'
the fixist good luck and have a nice day

My dv6000 dont start . i have black screen with one long beeb and two short beebs

HI friend,

one long beeb and two short beebs Indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information, some couse of that issue is New hardware conflicting with old hardware or New hardware conflicting with old hardware or Connections not connected or connected properly or other hardware issue.Best solution is
If any new hardware has been recently added to the computer, remove that hardware to make sure it is not the cause of your issue. If after removing the new hardware your computer works it's likely the computer is either not compatible with the new hardware or a system setting needs to be changed to work with the new hardware device.Remove any disks, CD's, DVD's that are in the computer and if any USB devices (ipods, drives, phones, etc)
before all that please
Make sure all fans are running in the computer. If a fan has failed (especially the fan for the CPU) your computer could be overheating and/or detecting the fan failure causing the computer not to boot.
If you continue to to receive the same problem with all the above hardware removed attempt to disconnect the RAM from the Motherboard and turn on the computer. If the computer has a different beep code or if your computer was not beeping and is now beeping turn off your computer and try the below suggestions. Making sure to turn off the computer each time you're adding and removing the memory and then turning the computer back on to see if the suggestion resolves the issue.
  1. Re-insert the memory into the same slot.
  2. If you have more than one stick of memory remove all but one stick of memory, try rotating through each stick.
  3. Try one stick of memory in each slot.
Thanks,

Please rate me.......

Hi,i have a gateway gt5228 computer, have owned it for 3 yrs. and the motherboard keeps going bad, this is the third time so far, why is this happening, thank you tracy

This is a typical issue for this model. Normally the issue iwth with CMOS loss, and so can not be recovered without pulling the chip and manually reprogramming it. Can you give a discription of what is going on in yours? I expect this is the issue.. turn on and black screen with all lights on and seeming like shoud be working. There are ways to bypass the CMOS if this is the case, and a good computer tech should have this aparatus in his tool kit. This might be an alternative.
A bit of history on Gateway though. Some of their system boards were targeted by hackers for what-ever reason to kill the CMOS in the past 5 years. This virus destroys the volitile coding that enables the hardware in the computer, so this is kind of typical for a gateway (no fault of their own though). This was just the lucky company that got the cross-hairs at that time.

Sony pcg 9h4l motherboard issue

Hi,

Try to power off unit and remove the battery. Then press and hold power button for 30seconds.Put the battery back and turn it on. If it turns on turn it back off again and remove the battery. Connect your VAIO using the AC adapter only. If this will not resolve your issue you can check this with SONY or any certified service center.
