Question about GE WSXH208A Front Load Washer

1 Answer

My GE frontload washer "jumps around" the room.

It was purchased August 2006. I have had this problem from the beginning, but in the last year, it has gotten progressively worse. No matter how many clothes are loaded inside, it "jumps around" and really shakes the house. Things have fallen off of tables and broken in the next room and I have indentations where the machine hit the wall in the laundry room. What can I do?

I just bought mine and it jumped around on the first load that I tried to wash, very discouraging to say the least!

The Geek Squad come out to take a look at my front load GE

2 1/2 yr old washer. His suggestions definitely helped. First, only use high efficiency detergent. Do not pack the load. He removed the shipping bolts on the legs as the individual before me suggested. He removed the bottom front of the washer and opened up a compartment (not anything I was told to do) and out came coins, paper clips, small key, twist ties, plastic piece from a kids toy. There should be consumer access to this. He said to purchase a product called Affresh (cleaning tablets) and run an empty washer on hot water with one of these tablets once a month to get rid of any mold smell.

Plug off the mains. Open up the machine to look for defective shock-absorbers, broken springs, etc. You shd have done this much earlier, surely you're not walking around the house with a helmet.

For spares: (which is good)

Caution there!! You may not have removed the transit bolts. Refer to your manual. These bolts keep the machine intact while in transit.

Consumers are not told abt this for after a couple of years your machine blocks up,malfunctions; you might think machines last only this much & go in for a new one - much to their delight! Then they explain how you could take a trip to the moon on this new machine; after you've washed your clothes. Keeps their factories running while you shell out bucks. I haven't looked at below, if good pass it on. I hv a front loader going here for over 15 years, no electronics. Philco.

does it atleast have power? make any noises, any lites? did the belt break or has it been changed lately, some washers have a automatic shut off switch on the motor that goes off when the belt is broken or removed? u may also have a bad fuse switch or door switch gone bad which will then shut off everything. can test with multimeter or by jumping the 2 prongs together with a wire. have to possible remove cabinet though? front load is more trouble to work on best wishes, lastly u may have a bad timer motor on the panel which is bad bad news to expensive in my opinion

Does GE make the Frigidaire brand washing machine? and if so will the pump out of the Frigidaire work in the GE washing machine?

Hello, welcome to FixYa. The GE frontloads of several years ago where indeed made by Figidaire ( not the other way around) though GE now make their own as do Frigidaire/Electrolux and no longer have anything in common. The GE that had been built by Frigidaire used identical pumps, you'll just need to provide a model number of the unit in question and I can tell what pump it uses...and what washers it will work in. Thanks for choosing FixYa today. Regards, Macmarkus :)
