Question about Computer Utilities & Maintenance

1 Answer

I purchased some 16X dvd-r & dvd+R discs

Thing that I would be able to used them with my computer, but when I try transferring the music (using Roxio) to your CD the system reject the CD. Thre is a label that came with the cd stating to go to http://rpc1.org to get information on dowloading and installing firmware upgrades, but rather than getting this upgrade this is a forum, I don' t want to chat with anyone, I want to get the information, and to get this I don't see why I have to register. Please give the information I need to proceed with my copy.

By the way, my computer is a HP Pavilion Slimline and the operating system is Window Vista

Instead of using Roxio, which is problematic anyway (it's just part of the manufacturers bundle that comes with some new pcs and it doesn't always work correctly, it seems to cause conflicts with the system's own copy utilities - I always uninstall it) ------- just use your system's burn/copy utilities.

After copying the dvd video content, and inserting the blank disc, Roxio does not recognize the blank disc and continues to say 'please insert blank disc' I have tried both DVD R and DVD WR. Please help!

If your roxio software does not read or recognize the disc that you are using, you can use other brands of disc to check if the disc that you are using is not compatible with the software.

My CD/DVD burner isn't burning at the proper speed. I burned a disc that should have been 66:53, but it came out 66:38 (making the music a little bit fast). I did a burner test, with Exact Audio Copy and...

The speed is determined by the speed of the burner for the type of writable media (disk) you are using and the speed the writable media supports. (For example: I have CD-R disks from years ago that don't write as fast as the CD-R disks I purchased recently.)

The lowest of these two speeds is the max write speed.

Unfortunately, there is a ridiculously large number of disk writing standards which affect write speeds. Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD_recorder

If this helps please vote for my solution.

My roxio creator 2010 converts tivo to dvd so slow - a 103 minute movie took 7 hours to convert and burn to disc and the picture is **** but the audio is fine. i also can't seem to trim any tivo recordings...

I like burning tivo to DVD with windows DVD maker. I use Pavtube for coverting TiVo videos . It works very well and I haven't really had any problems. Conversion speed seems fine and the videos look good. I saw Pavtube mentioned in the TiVo forums as a good way to convert for the iPad so I decided to try it. It's much better than TiVo's converter. http://www.pavtube.com/guide/copy-tivo-to-dvd.html

Cannot make mp3 files from cds

Don't bother using Roxio for this - use Windows Media Player 11.
1. Open Windows Media Player
2. Run the mouse over the "Rip" tab - a small aroow should appear underneath the word "Rip" - click on the arrow and a drop-down should appear.
3. Select - "Format" - change to "mp3"
4. Now insert your CD and press the Rip button - by default, Windows Media Player will store the mp3 files in the My Documents --> My Music folder

Now use Roxio to make a CD out of the Mp3 files

Good luck!

Failed to burn DV disc.Cyberlink Media Show error code 0x0A180001

I was also suffering this problem with Nero 6. To solve your Problem first make sure that the windows you are using that supports your Software if supports, then your Optical Drive may not Write in high speed 16x or 18x, write your files in DVD in little bit slow speed, after doing all this if it gives same problem then Please reinstall your windows you are using.

Trying to copy disc, having problems

Yes, it can be a pain. There are a lot of programs that conflict with roxio. Have you installed anything new since last it worked? Also, try getting newest drivers.

Roxio Label Creator won't print labels (blank with scissors)

Go to the label creator in your Roxio 6, Click on EDIT, then click on PREFERENCES, go to the DISC tab and unclick the "Print Disc cut Lines" and the "Print Disc outline" boxes. This should fix your problem.
