Re: on the left side of the machine i pushed a button and...
That is the PCMCIA eject button. With no card in the PCMCIA slot (Slot empty) you should be able to push the button in slowly till it clicks, then release and the button should stay in. Then re-insert the blank filler or card you had in the slot. (To engage the retention detent, you have to press the button in slightly past the outside of the chassis)
If the button will not engage the detent, then the motherboard will need to be replaced to fix it (The button is part of the motherboard)

Best suggestion i can give you for this is to find the reset button on the watch. Will be a small hole and usually a paperclip will fit in there. Judging by the pictures i have seen looks like one of two places, there is a small hole on the left hand side of the watch and what might be a small hole in the back of the watch. One of those might be what you are looking for. DO NOT GO POKING THINGS INTO THESE HOLES UNTIL YOU HAVE MADE SURE THAT ONE OF THEM IS THE RESET BUTTON. If one of them is the reset button push it in and hold it for about 30 seconds. This will do a factory reset on the watch. Factory reset means that you will have to set it up again, but at least it will be working. Or should be at least.
Look closley at the cd drive and you will notice a small hole (normally on the left side) on the cd drive unit.
Take a paper clip and straighten it out and push the end of the straightened paper clip into that hole, it will release the cd tray and you will be able to remove the cd.

With the laptop facing towards you look at the right hand side of it, down the side of the latop just above the DVD/CD RW you will see a slot with a small button to the left of it. That is the PCMCIA slot. Push that button so it pops out and then push it back in again. That will push out the blanking plate. Pull out the blanking plate and then tyou can pop in the aircard. Make sure you don't put the card in upside down and also make sure you have the driver/software CD handy.
if you have the small 8.9 inch screen acer one, there is a button on either side of the touchpad...if you have the 11 inch acer one, the button isa one piece mouse button that pivots at its center point. Push on the right side to right click and push on the left side to left click.
With the charger unplugger, look inside the plug end that you plug into the pc. On occaision, the center pin may be damaged or pushed into the plug itself. That small pin is what provides the laptop the power (wattage) info. Also if you know anyone else with Dell charger PA-10 or PA-12, try theirs. Good luck!
I have a 2200 and the switch for the wireless is on the front right edge of the machine. The is a small light lense just above it and when the wireless is on it lights blue. Button is aot 1 1/2" in fromn the rightedge and just under the silver trim. run you finger along the sliver/black seam and you should feel it.
Hi - The power button is on the left side. Locate the speaker. Then there is a headphone jack and a microphone jack. Next is your power button. You may not see it because there is a little cover over it. I believe you just have to skide this cover to get to your power button. This is an older machine so just in case you don't have a manual I've included a link for one. If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If you need more help just add a comment and I'll be happy to help. Thanks and have a nice day.
