Just curious, has anyone here has tested Xbox360 as a media extender?
How is it?

I have a Wireless Neatgear wpn824 & a new windows Vista PC.
I have also tried all the same info with the firewall, upnp & spent hrs trying everything, but even though my pc can detect the xbox 360 the xbox cannot do the same. windows media extender just will not work. I have also never had a problem with my xbox live. This is frustrating as I really only updated so i could link up to my xbox harddrive.

So that would be one problem that you are having right off the bat.

You can always convert the main movie to wmv or mpeg. Granted you lose
chapter selection, extras and a menu and perhaps even Dolby. For the avid
DVD watcher that's probably not even an option but for my wife and I it
works.

802.11G router. XBox 360 wired to router. Windows Media connect shows the
Xbox 360 as a device. Firewall is disabled ( however I also have all ports
suggested opened on my firewall once I get this resolved). During PC set up,
receive error message, " Xbox 360 not Found" "An Xbox 360 cannot be found on
the network. Your network connections or a firewall may be the cause of the
problem. Check your connections or disable your firewall and then select
Next." I verifed on router that all setting match requirements of Extender
and they are set up correctly (UPnP enabled). Anyone else having this issue
or know how to resolve? I spent over an hour on the phone with Microsoft X
Box support, but they didn't know why and said I would have to call back, or
they would call me back ( I am not holding my breath).
