Audio tracking

By Phoebe - usenet poster

i've been looking for a decent s-vhs vcr for a while now and all the ones
i've tried so far seem to have trouble with the audio tracking. tapes that
play fine in any vhs vcr have static in the audio when played on the new
s-vhs vcrs. these are commercial retail tapes of movies not copies or things
i've recorded myself. is this something that's common when playing vhs tapes
on s-vhs vcrs or are all the new vcrs just complete junk? any suggestions on
a current make/model svhs that's least likely to have this problem?

so far i've tried:
mitsubishi u778 (minimal audio problems, mediocre picture quality)
jvc s9911 (moderate audio problems, best picture quality)
jvc srv10u (worst audio, very good picture)
I have the same problem.
