Question about Nintendo Rock Band for Wii

1 Answer

Wii Rockband needs repair!

After 7 months, my son's Wii Rockband-1 bundle is basically useless. Red drum pad and guitar (strum) do not play/match properly with the game. He also purchased another guitar (exactly the same) and the "energy" doesn't work on that one.

The EA support is zero since it is beyond the 60 day warranty. They would not even give guidance on any options or repair.

Need help specifically for the Wii Rockband since that looks different from any information I've seen online.

Thanks!! Clueless!

After searching around on the internet, I've found a guide that seems to cover the steps to repair unresponsive drum pads. It provides a few simple fixes, and some links for how to fix other problems with the Rock Band instruments.

Unresponsive Drum Pad Guide: http://www.instructables.com/id/Rock_Band_Drum_Pad_Repair/

Guitar Strummer Guide: http://www.instructables.com/id/Rock_Band_Strummer_Repair/

The main guide: http://www.instructables.com/id/Rock_Band_Instrument_Repairs_and_Modifications/

If you're unable or unwilling to try fixing it yourself, I would suggest checking places like hobby stores, electronics supply (like Radio Shack) stores, or a individually owned and operated video games store, if you're lucky enough to have one. Places like these often have people who are willing to perform modifications and repairs on electronics at reasonable prices. If all of these options fail, my last suggestion would be to check out a nearby university, especially if the university has electrical, mechanical, or computer science engineering programs; I myself am a computer science engineering student, and I know several of my fellow students who do things like repair electronics in their free time as a hobby.

Hope this helps,

-Nick F.

I have a harmonix wireless guitar and a wired drumset. Neither will respond, though they both show a blue light. I'm playing rockband 3 with rockband 1 instruments. Only the mic works and I have no idea why. Of course, I've tried new batteries in guitar, re-synced, powered on and off.. to no avail. Suggestions? Its a new in box set.

You mean the strum bar, right? In order to test this, strum up and down in any menu in the game. If your selection moves up and down then it's working, if it doesn't move at all, then you have a broken guitar. You'll need to contact EA for an RMA. Information on that was included in the packaging of your game.

Guitar hero wii controller plays notes of its own accord

I had the exact same problem on the wii guitar before, and tried replacing it which did no good. Then I realized on the solo part the touch slider was what kept strumming itself, so I turned off the slider and it worked! To turn off the touch slider, you have to go into a song and go to options and turn it off, which will keep it turned off until you change it. I'm not sure why it does it, I guess dust gets on it or something.

Hopefully this helps and have fun! :D

On the guitar hero stratocaster there is a lower touch pad of frets. However, I bought the controller used and don't have instructions. How is the lower touch pad used?

Having a 13 year old solve this is not right but anyways the bottom frets can be used for people who have trouble reaching the top ones are they can be used for like rockband solos and on solos you don't need to strum.

Hi-

You can repair your drums actually for pretty reasonable!
Here is a link to a video on how to repair the drums yourself,
you'll have to purchase the cable yourself, but you can find one if you search eBay for "guitar hero drum cable"

I hope this helps!

Our wii RockBand guitar won't strum

If you got the Rock Band 2 guitar then you'll have the same problem as with the Guitar Hero: World Tour controllers. There seems to be a large number of faulty controllers. It is best just to take the controller back to the shop you purchased the game from and get a replacement controller. If you are feeling brave, you can take the faceplate off the controller and open it up to have a look at the connections on the strum bar, but you will void the warranty if you do. You can use the D-pad in the mean time to strum.

When playing guitar hero and pressing the corresponding color button, no sound is being made?

Play the tutorial before playing the game. It'll tell you how to play the game. If there is still no sound, it is possible that the strum bar on the guitar is broken, and you will need to have it replaced. You can use the D-pad on the guitar as an alternative to the strum bar, just to see if the guitar works.

How to play wii rockband guitar, drums without the microphone

Was your mic hooked up when the system was turned on? The mic is probably signed in. The mic needs to be reconnected and signed out. Or reboot the whole system with what you want to use plugged in only.

HOw do I match colors on the screen with colors on the guitar?

When you see the red note coming down on your screen, you hold red down with your left hand and strum with your right. You have to strum every note that comes down the screen unless they are hammer ons or hammer offs, which you can learn about in the tutorial section of the game.
