Question about InFocus Proxima DP 6500x Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

I have an Infocus Proxima DP-6500X DLP Projector. Everything is working well except the color wheel is making a loud shrieking type noise that changes in intensity while viewing. Some times it?s bearable, others it?s just too much. Is their a fix for this I can perform myself?

You'll need to replace the colorwheel. From what I'm told its due to the uneven wear of the bearings.

It looks like the Light Pipe (LP) is collapsed. You can fix it if you have steady hands & expertise to do that. You can find it next to colour wheel which are four small mirrors attached to each other with a high temperature glue. It is really pain-staking. But if you go to service centre, they will change the whole optical engine & not the LP which will cost you dear.

InFocus SP5000 - high pitch noise

there isn't a colorwheel in the sp5000. it's an lcd, not a dlp. one of the fans is bad and needs to be replaced. the bearings might be going. you can get parts from an infocus service center or send it to them for repair. try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

Loud Noise

Hi topher1234

I will need your Make and Model of the Projector , before I can do a diagnosis. Also include if this is a LCD or DLP machine.

Together with the above , can you feel any vibration on the Projector when you place your hand on it ?

it is the color wheel i have a similar problem and am looking for the part, the color wheel is a small electric motor that spins at a high speed and it can go bad. which will lead to the horrible squeel/hum/buzz.
