How old is the battery? They last 5 years if looked after and kept charged. It may just be worn out or has a failing cell.

Or you may have something draining the power even though everything is switched. You can test by removing the battery, and charging it up, and then leave it for a week and refit it. It should still have a full charge.

OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Sounds like you need a new battery.
It's not just a battery in a case, it also has a small circuit board inside to control the charging etc, if that's faulty it won't charge, or if it has dead cells in it won't charge.
