If you reset to factory settings, you can update the maps. You could also buy a memory stick.

My Garmin nuvi or what ever its called is telling me the memory is full I dont know how to free up space,

-----------------------------
1)
you can do a system reset, which should clear the memory, it will basically return it to factory settings, so you'll lose favorites, recent destinations, etc.
Turn the unit off. Hold your thumb pressing against the bottom right of the screen. Hold it there while turning the unit on. Say "yes" when asked. That should do it.
2)1. Open Maintenance Mode by pressing the lower left-hand corner of the touch screen while unit is being turned on.
2. When the "Do you really want to start up in maintenance mode?" prompts, press the "Yes" button.
3. Log on password if necessary.
4. Press the "Clear user data".
5. When the "Do you really want to erase all user data?" prompts, press the "Yes" button.
6. Nuvi restarts.

3)Step 1. Turn your Nuvi unit off, remove any SD cards from the SD card slot and make sure that the unit is not plugged into any computer.
Step 2. Place a fingertip on the upper left hand corner of the touch screen and keep it there while turning the unit on, a prompt should read " Do you really want to start in maintenance mode?"
Step 3. Select the yes button.
Step 4. Enter your PIN if enabled.
Step 5. Main Maintenance Mode screen should have 4 selections:
System information
View Diagnostics
Clear User data
Clear Waypoints
Step 6. Choose "Clear Waypoints". After some time the unit should reboot.

Nuvi 610 memory is full what can i do

Ok, so you want to upgrade the map on your Nuvi. You connect your Nuvi to the PC, you go to the Garmin website and your told that you don't have enough memory left on your Nuvi for the upgrade.

What can you do?

It seems every year, the map file gets larger and requires more free space on your Nuvi.

Not all Nuvi's are created alike. Some Nuvi's have more memory than others. Some Nuvi's, like the lower-end 2xx/2xxW series have such a limited memory, that they can only hold the lower 48 states map.

So, if your Nuvi has adequate storage space (1.6GB required for 2014) but you can't upgrade to a newer map due to a "not enough memory space" warning, there are a few things you can try to free up memory.

1. Delete any MP3's or photos that you may have added.
2. Delete any unused voices that you don't need.
3. Delete any unused vehicles that you don't need.
4. Delete any screen snapshots that you may taken with your Nuvi.
5. Delete the GUPDATE.GCD file.
6. Delete the PDF user manual.

You can always copy these files over to a folder on your PC before you delete them from your Nuvi.

Don't delete any files that you don't know what they are, as they could affect the normal operation of your Nuvi.

If you don't want to clear up free memory on your Nuvi, you may try loading the map onto a SD card.

Xls 330s tom tom no map

Connect the GPS to the computer. Forget the Tom Tom home for a little while. Use the windows explorer or file manager. Check whether the TomTom is shown as a drive. If yes, Right click on it. Then click properties. Check how much is the used space and how much is the free space. If you see that there is only about 50MB free space, that could be the reason. Tomtom update do not seem to overwrite the map file. Now check the properties of the new map file. It may be approximately around 1.3 GB to 1.5 GB. Since I do not have a Europe map I do not have the correct size. If the new map size is anything bigger than the available space on your GPS drive, then the update will not complete and crash. Solution. Copy the existing map (North American map has a name something like USA_Canada_and_Mexico_P) folder to your computer. Once you have a secure copy, delete this map folder from your GPS drive. You will now see that you have approximately 1.7GB of free space. copy the map folder from your CD to your GPS drive. Once copying is complete, safely remove the GPS from USB port. Restart and try it out on a known route to check efficiency.
