It doesn't come on anymore

I can hear either a fan or the disk running, but it won't come on

VIP622 fan runs, green light, all lights flash, HD spins up and then just the fan. I can reboot 3-4 times and I might get a searching for signal screen but it never finishes. This is my second 622 in a year. This one lasted 2 months. I called Dish and they are sending me a 722 after agreeing to a 2 year contract. I just want a DVR that works!

I had the same thing happen with my vip622 dvr, the fan ran constantly and the green light would flash...and no picture...well..I read through some things..and found out to get this receiver running correctly, you have to put it on a stand alone shelf with nothing on or around it..a milk crate underneath the table I have my TV on seems to have worked..for some reason this box can not be in an enclosed area...at all...having it sit all alone seems to be the only solution...I had to get a new HDMI cable to make it reach...but things seem to be fine now...(cross the fingers)!

It says no info on the programs I want to record and won't record them. The guide also shows no info in those areas.

Janette578,

Make sure the receiver is powered off each night so it can receive updates through the satellite to the guide.

You can force a guide download by unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds and plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, you can run a check switch test from Menu > System Setup > Installation > Point Dish > Check Switch > Test. Let it finish, then exit out of the menu and let it acquire signal and download the guide.

If you have any other questions, or need further assistance, let me know!

When the receiver powers up just the fan seems to go on. Resetting by holding the i/o will turn the yellow light off but doesn't turn the fan off and comes back on after you release the i/o...

Hello Joe, my name is Becki, with DISH Network. You will want to make sure that the receiver is in a well ventilated area, and that there is nothing heavy sitting directly on it. The receiver's fan can start running constatntly if the unit starts to overheat. You may also want to try putting the receiver out on the floor for a few hours to cool down. You can also try to unplug the receiver from the power source for 10 seconds, that can be a more thourough reset than holding the power button down. The fan will run while starting the receiver up, for about 5 minutes, then it should stop running loudly. If you continue to have problems, please let me know!

MojogiMy GHD1621F2 freeview recorder is frozen on one programme, won't respond to the remote at all (have new batterys) and won't respond to buttons on front. Turning off and on doesn't work...

Hi mojogill,

It sounds like the receiver may be locked up. If the buttons on the front do not work, then try unplugging the receiver for 5 seconds and plug back in then check to see if everything is working fine.

If you need any further assistance with this, feel free to contact me at thomas.faust@dishnetwork.com. Thanks!

We have a Homecast HT9200DTR. The TV viewing goes off every minute or so. Message comes on the unit S/W 1.00 6A.

This isn't a solution. We have had the same problem on our unit on the same day as you posted this! I updated the firmware to S/W 1.01.1B made absolutely no difference.

Our DVR is making whirring noises like it is trying to load a disc and we have no tv in the main room but the office has signal wtf?

Haha Dont worry dude its just your hard drive or your fan. Your DVR also cuts on around 3-4 a.m in the morning too download software so thats cool. If this just started too happend it could be your hard drive or your fan going out but if its only for a a set period of time its your fan trying too cool down your hard drive. But!!! If you hear it all the time and it is really loud than most likely you will have too get it replaced. Here are a couple things too try.
  1. Unplug the reciver for an hour
  2. If in a surge protector remove it and plug it directly
If you need anymore help let me know

Humax 8000T not used for a while, now says ''no or bad signal'' and says no channels available when it searches.I tried resetting to default settings but still no joy. When I checked signal status it says...

sig strength 29 is too low to lock onto. Humax needs 50+ to lock ideally 65+

is the aerial ok? try the set on someone elses aerial. If no joy then its possible the tuner is duff...but thats virtually unheard of.

DVR S4040R Tivo box

Your hard drive may have crashed. Can you hear any disk activity when you plug in the unit? The hard drive can be replaced, but probably better to either just get a replacement unit (you can get them on eBay for $40 or less) or upgrade to a newer receiver.
