I want to remove programs that i dont use to free up space but dont know what programs to remove

do you have multiple partitions on your hard drive if so why dont you try to reformat your laptop and just make 2 partitions but you need to back your data 1st as you will loose it

defrag periodically, and dump your temp internet files on a regular basis.

so you may have 2 situations, a real low disk space or a hidden folders to be internet server.

You can uninstall all programs outside of windows op system, like games, music, movies, some demo software, old programs not used,...

You can go into your control panel and into add remove programs (just programs in vista) and remove any programs you dont need. Also, go into your start button, then programs then accessories and then system tools. Look for disk cleanup. Make sure they are all checked off (just garbage files) then delete all. Hope this helps.

Your hard Drive is full.

Go to My Computer
Right Click the C:/ and go to properties
It will then show you how much Disk space is used and that is free.

You need to uninstall some old programs you dont use anymore. If you are using Windows XP go to your Control Panel and then Add or Remove Programs
Uninstall the programs you dont want.

Now you should have enough space to install your printer software.

Music, video and pictures use the most hard drive space. Store them on a disc or on line storage site. After the delete or removing as advised, defrag you hard drive. This should free up space. Get rid of any programs you don't use. As long as you don't delete hidden files you should be fine. Hope this helps. If you are using windows XP go to start, control panel add and remove programs and delete only the programs that you installed and remove only them.

check your harddisk capacity , you must have minimal 30% free space to get good performance, how to check it , go to my computer icon , click right mouse choose property you will see your capacity u harddisk , by known it you can planing to add free space , uninstall your unused program, or unused data , or backup your data to other storage or burning to cd dvd. If you have free capacity of u harrdisk , i thing you can install other program or add plugin program to u cpu, ok Fixya

If you have just one drive then it might be possible you have lot of unwanted files in it. Recovery files dont take too much space usually. So best suggestion so to go for some cleaning.

That will remove lot of unwanted stuff on your system
check if you some hidden files too.. you can open any folder-->tools-->folder options-->view-->show me hidden files
check in you C drive or main drive you might have lot of unwanted folders in there. Remove all unwanted programs from Add/remove programs in control panel
and finally dont forget recycle bin
