NO SOUND TROUGH HDMI ON ACER AX3400-U3032 and No HDMI Icon in sound settings.
Had to replace motherboard from authorized acer parts dealer now I get no sound through HDMI port. I did through the original board until it got fried by electrical surge. Can any one help or send me a picture of the inside the same model to make sure all jumpers on the motherboard are in the right spot. Or if any one else had this problem tell me how you fix it. It does not have HDMI sound icon in the mixer.
What I have done:
1. I have looked for disabled devices.
2. Tried looking in sound mixer settings for the default audio.
3. New install and drivers.
4. Tried a system utility software RegInOut.
Looking for serious replies on fix even if it was not an Acer.

It may have, but may not be enabled. On Windows PCs, you may have to go to the Control Panel and go to the SOUND tab. There you may find that you have to choose between the default analog sound out and the digital sound output thru the HDMI cable. If your system has an audio manager application (Realtek for example, uses one), you can select the digital output there as well. It may even be easier to do there.
Try looking in your sound mixer settings for the default audio. Make sure it is set to the stero jack and not the digital coax. altho windows is suppose to automacticly detect what is pluged into the sound card, many times it does not and will default to the digital coax. These settings are found under control pannel
You need to optimize your system. Use a system utility software RegInOut -- includes several features which allows the PC users to fix drivers issues. It improves system performance by removing junk files and fixing registry errors. Then update you sound drivers. Hope it works for you.!!!
There are a number of companies advertising on the web selling this sort of disc. I have never used them and don't know if they work. Maybe you would like to find out? Just google acer startup disc Hope that helps.
Aaah! good old acer and their inability to build a pc with user accessable parts! (I have one too). On the metal frame holding the dvd drive, there will be either a slide clip or small tabs. unlock the drive and push the drive out toward the front. If it moves a little then stops, remove the front of the pc by gently pulling the tabs at each corner of the front facia and fulling it off. Once the dvd drive is moved out, disconnect the power and data cables from the drive. this should give you enough room to insert the new ram. Be careful when adding components to a pc, make sure you are earthed - leave the power cord plugged - in but switch the power off. this will give you an earth. touch the chassis of the pc before you install components to make sure you don't discharge static electricity into the components or motherboard. Good luck!
