Two red quadrants light up on the left and screen goes blank.
I will play my xbox 360 for about 15-45 minutes depending on game when it suddenly shuts down and shows two solid red lights on the left , and a black screen. I can still hear the power source and xbox humming. The xbox keeps humming and displaying the red lights for about 30 seconds, then it stops. I turn it back on and it works fine until it crashes again.
Re: Two red quadrants light up on the left and screen...
There are two posibilitys to your problem it could be either there is something unpluged in your 360 or your could have a virus you should take your 360 apart and check it if it is still under warrenty through microsoft you should send it in to them and let them fix it but if it is out of warrenty then you should get the tools at your nerest radio shack and take it apart and check it out and let me know what happens

The two red lights is an overheating issue. It correlates with the 3 red lights. First check with Microsoft if your warranty seal is still intact and ask them if its under warranty. also there are some vary qualified technicians who guaranty their work up to 90 days.

What is the error code at the bottom of the screen & check for flashing red lights on the power button if 3 illuminate it the infamous RROD(Red Ring of Death-google it) which you will get a free repair for if its the bottom right quadrant flashing red then its most probably E74 or E61. E61 is a hard drive related problem so try playing without it, & E74 is the AV cable snapped inside or the GPU/CPU inside the xbox 360 has weak solders on it, I suggest MS support ASAP.
try blowing the air holes with a compress air cans. or take it apart and clean the inside. dust can build up with 3 months of playing depends on your area if you have pets or smokers in the area, dust comes from all sorts.
so try keeping your XBOX360 cooled as possible and keep it cleaned.
i use a air compressor when cleaning mine i try to clean it like every 3-4 months depending on how much I play it.
So keep it clean also red lights could mean no video device connected too, so check your video / audio connector.
when it crashes does it turn off the whole system or does any lights come on?
sounds like the the processor is over heating and its causing the system to shut down before it burned up the board. basicly your thermal paste between your processor and the heatsink isnt doing its job. there could be a crack on it might have just degraded over time.
