Presario SR1123WM won't restore to factory

When I try to restore this system to factory it goes through the motion but when it reboots it gives me a configuration problem error and says code purple. It instructs me to call Compaq. I don't have a restore disk I'm using the internal restore. Where can I find a restore disk for this system. Compaq don't have one.

If Compaq doesn't have one no one else will either.
Have you tried the recover clean up utility? Available as a download (link below)
My guess is that if it will not restore something is wrong with the hard drive. Have you contacted HP to ask them what it means?
Another option is to buy and install windows and download the drivers from Compaq/HP.Same link

You can download Hiren's Boot CD from this link: http://hotfile.com/dl/3325501/86e7736/9Down.COM_Hirens.BootCD.9.8.rar.html.
After extracting it, burn the ISO to a cd (you can use cdimage program). If you aren't comfortable doing this, have a friend who is do it for you.

Boot to the CD and select MiniXP
click on start, then run. type in cmd to open a command prompt.
at the command prompt, type (X): where (X) represents your system's drive with the windows installation (usually C:).
Then do the following (without quotes) Type "cd hp" press Enter. Type "cd bin" press Enter. Type "cd configcheck" press Enter.
Now type in the whole string of text (again without the quotes) "
ren run.py run.p_"
After sucessfuly completing the above, shutdown the computer and remove the CD. Windows should boot back up with no error.

How to restore to factory settings Compaq presario 3000

Switch On your PC/ Laptop and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

How to restore to factory settings presario cq50

    2 possible solutions to this

    1. Use the roll back function of your operating system to roll back to the last back up.

    2. Insert your restore disk or Windows disk and do a format/clean install.

If you have a restore disc it will have prompts to "restore" your system and give you a warning about losing data-save off what you want BEFORE doing this restore

If you have standard windows disk you may want to use the format utility in windows first to clean the drive and do a fresh install.

Once installed don't forget to download updates and back up and then reload your other software.

have fun this will take several hours depeneding on the amount of stuff you have to reload and patch up.

    Keeps rebooting

Sounds like the operating system could be corrupted, maybe try a restore to factory settings since its new? Try to hit "F11" on startup and do a factory restore to fix the possibly corrupt OS.

This means that the data inside the D drive is gone. If you had deleted the D drive data or had gotten rid of this partition then your outta luck in trying to restore your system back to factory settings (getting windows reloaded).

All is not lost if you are willing to pay HP/Compaq for their restore CD's this will get your laptop and running again. I paid a copy of these CD's 3yrs ago and cost me $45CDN to get them.
