My screen comes on dor a moment then goes off. What do I do?

You either have a bad inverter or a bad backlight tube.
The parts are relatively inexpensive but depending on your technical skill level it may not be worth repairing

The inverter is fairly easy to replace but the backlight will be a pain as the light tubes are extremely thin and break very easily.

I get the green power on light but nothing else on the monitor. What could be the problem ......no screen at all

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

A friend gave me the Kogi 17 eh-ta ko 17 in Flat panel LCD monitor. We got it installed and the screen has a pinkish tinge to it. Don't have the manual and would like to find out where the tint control is....

communikay, The pink tint means that the cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps are just about at their "end of life" and will need replacing!! I would be surprised if it lasts another month or two and then you might need to rebuild the inverter circuit that also might die from being overstressed due to the fact that old (many "ON" hours) CCFL's draw excessive current making the switch-mode-power-supply/inverter circuit work harder to light the lamps? 12fixlouie

My Kogi 17 inch monitor illuminates for 2 seconds and then the light goes out. The monitor is still on but hard to see. Each time you power cycle the monitor, the display appears normal for exactly 2...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, lets try determining which is at fault.
  • power supply (unlikely) - the unit powers up, even after the display going off, the monitor is till on;
  • LCD screen (possibly) - will have to be determined later;
  • CCF Lamps (backlights) and/or inverter (most likely) - a check; power on the unit, run through the routine, change channels etc. with a flashlight shine obliquely against the screen. If with the use of the flashlight a darker semblance of the desktop could be seen, then you have just confirmed that it is either the CCFL or the inverter and definitely not the LCD screen.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Kogi Monitor with fuzzy text

Here is one small solution. goto start: -> control panel -> display click on the "appearance" tab. then click on "effects" check the box that says: Use the following method to smooth the edges of screen fonts (and make sure to choose "cleartype") You should notice the fonts are a little sharper as well as having a backdrop.

Possible_backlight_issue

Hi goldeneye, Sounds like the backlight inverter board. Don't mind the explaination I just cut and paste this solution from one of my others. It's a very common problem. LCD's use four small Cold Compact Fluorescent bulbs to back light the display. (thats what gives the LCD it's brightness allowing you to see it) The inverter board runs these lights and when they go bad they will typically show symptoms like you have or the monitor power light comes on and you have either no display or a very dim display. If you ever have one that has no display but the power light is on you can check by shining a flashlight directly into the LCD from the front (right into the screen) if you can see an image then it's either the inverter board (most likely) or the CCFL bulbs have gone bad. The inverter board and CCFL's are replaceable. Good Luck, El Duderino
