Same as you said. I have it also. But I just clean the disk and it usually works. Sometimes you just have to clean it and put it back in. I'm not really sure why it does this.

It might actually be cheaper to order a new drive on ebay. The Benq has this problem almost always. So the best option is to replace the drive. Less maintenance, and less risk of breaking the drive. Best option without a doubt. Unless you are on a short budget, it's best to just replace it with a new one.

It sounds like a samsung drive, they are more likely to have this sort of error. it could be either the laser that is on the way out or that the little drive belt has streched or weakened. either way its repairable and we can help you do this, if you want to try yourself i can point you in the right direction for some guides. we also do the repair via our website at www.fixmyconsole.co.uk

if the drive belt is the problem, you can buy a 19mm drive belt from maplins.com and they are just the right size for the job. simply take the drive apart and make sure the tray is out, the drive belt is underneath near the top and can be removed with a small screwdriver etc.

the laser can be repaired by installing a new one from ebay OR in some cases it can be cured by adjusting the 'pots' i do have a guide for this if needed.

Well you may be having disk tray issues, sure hope so as compared to a burnt out lens module, try ejecting the tray fully and wiping all dust off around the grooves under the tray, one more tip is to keep a disk in the drive at all times, even when you aint playing it, you can also try giving it a gentle tap on the front pat where the disk tray is located any time you eject it or push the tray back in, come to think about it if you are fond of pushing the tray in after inserting a disc, stop cos it weakens the motor that drives the ejecting process, hope this helps...

X box wont read disks

Your lens is dirty, very common and is considered routine maintenance.

3 ways to fix this.

1. Buy a CD cleaner, it is a cd that has little brushes on it that clean the lens as it spins. Can buy one for under $20

2. You will need a can of compressed air for electronics. Open up your cd tray and pull the power from your 360. Push the tray half way in and position the nozzle extender for the can of air right at the cd lens and give it a few blasts of air. It may take a few times to get the nozzle in the right place.

3. Disassemble your 360 (will void warranty) and take the DVD Drive out of it. After the drive is removed you can remove the cover to the drive and manually clean the lens. Put it all back together and you are back to playing games and reading disks.

Hope this helps you out.

Xbox Will Not Read Any Thing I Put in it

i had the same problem with my xbox, i actually picked it up free because of that, when i got it home i tried cleaning the tray with the cd with little brushes on the bottom and that didnt do any good. i had to manually open the xbox 360 and then open the tray aswell, you can see on youtube how to open a 360 properly, its actually very easy, and then you actually open the tray and clean the laser eye with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol, its a few t9 screws to remove the xbox from the case and then 4 small star screws to open the tray and clean it, put it back together and it will run asgood as the day you bought it

if you need more details repost on this with your questions and i will answer them all

--that goes for anybody who needs a hand with a 360, i brought mine back from the 3 red rings of death 4 times without having to pay a hefty microsoft repair bill, just 6.00 for a few things that i needed to redo a few chips on the motherboard, if you need help i will do my best to help you--

(wish i had someone to help me when me and my wife figured this out):D

Red & green flashing lights

Microsoft knows this is a problem with the connection to the board from the power cable to the disk drive. They cannot repair soldered points to the board. neither can't anyone else. I have been loking for someone to repair mines. The point at which the power cable connects to the board is lose and disconnected at certain points. Pretty much if this is your problem you need a new console. If thats your problem.

READING DISC OPEN TRAY!!!!

I took a small coffee straw and put some liquid silicone in it and stuck it through the front disc tray carefully to the small engine in the back. Hold your finger over the back of the straw so that the liquid stays in until you are over the engine top. Then I put in a disc cleaning disc for about 10 sec and then put in saints row 2 and it hasn't said "open tray" for about two weeks and counting.....

I turn on my xbox 360 and it says open tray and wont read disc

I have had this happen about 3 times. The first time was when i figured out how to fix it. The 2nd and 3rd were temporary.(Just needed to be turned off for a moment) You need to shut the console off for atleast 15 minutes 10 at the lowest with everthing unplugged. I mean the hard drive, memory unit, and all cables, and adapters. Then after 10-15 minutes plug everything in and DON'T PRESS the BUTTONS ON THE XBOX OR THE CONTROLLERS. Press the button to open the tray and take out the game or dvd and put in a different one. If this doesn't work do it all over again and then put in a different game or dvd not the previous ones and turn on the console the same but then a soon as you get the disc in and closed in shut it off then open the tray and wait till you are at the main menu go into any program so you can't see it is reading and close the tray. If that doesn't work contact the xbox support line. Really hope this works for you.

360 disk tray

What I did was took apart my Xbox and put the disc tray back on the tracks, carefully lifting it over the circle thing in the middle. When I lay my Box down horizontally, it opens and closes fine.
