Computer erased due to bad virus....never had xp disk..came his stalled but now used xp disk but won't connect to internet....says I'm missing bunch of drivers info on pc---Compaq Presario AMD Athlon 64 GE force 6150 LE SR192OX-----don't know what drivers it needs-----..?
T_m_conway,
You can download the drivers to the computer you are using now.
One at a time. Keep them in one folder, where you know where they are at.
Then burn them to a disk. Many use thumb drives, but I'll pass.
Put the disk in the 'affected' computers optical drive. (CD/DVD drive)
Go to My Computer. Double-click on the drive letter, that corresponds to the optical drive.
One at a time, double-click on each file name. You are installing each driver, one at a time.
When you double-click on the individual driver file, there will be 3 small windows that come up; one at a time, and in order.
At the bottom of the 3 small windows, click on Next, Next, and Finish.
Then restart the computer.
(Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart)
Now go back, and Double-click on the next driver file. Install it.
And so on, until all driver files needed, are installed.
I appreciate you stated -
"Compaq Presario AMD Athlon 64 GE force 6150 LE"
,but in all due respect it doesn't state what is actually needed.
To break it down on what you stated,
1) Compaq - Computer manufacturer name
2) Presario - Model name
3) AMD - Processor, motherboard chipset, and graphics card manufacturer.
4) Athlon 64 - A line of AMD processors
5) GeForce 6150LE
Graphics chipset information.
The Nvidia GeForce 6150LE is a type of Integrated Graphics.
Integrated Graphics is also known as OnBoard Graphics.
ON the motherBOARD.
Indicates for one, that the graphics chipset is soldered directly to the motherboard, and not a separate graphics adapter card; which is removable.
Therefore replaceable. (Upgrade)
What is needed here, t_m_conway, is the model number.
This can be found on the Back of the computer, in a white Service Tag.
For Compaq computers, and HP computers, it is the Product Number that is needed. Model number information is contained in it, also.
P/N = Product Number.
'Armed' with this information I can guide you step by step, and not post a bunch of generic 'prattle', as I have above.
It is my belief that once you see an example, detailed out on here; that it will become sparkling clear as how to proceed.
Please post back in a Comment.

Hi!
It is very unlikely to get the machine working when the windows 7 HDD was installed in a different type of computer, because all drivers installed with the operating system are related to the hardware from the other computer.
The best solution is to make a clean install, using the windows installation disk, and after that to download from Compaq's site the latest drivers.
If you still have reasons to use that previous installation, you can try to do the following:
1. Boot from the Windows installation disk
2. Follow all steps until it discovers the previous installation on the HDD
3. Choose to repair it (or better upgrade, if this option is available).
But doing so there only 50-50 chances to get it work, or to get it to be stable.
Hope it helped.
