Have a dyson dc41 brush head wont spin so tried another which i bought this wont spin either the hoover picks up well with the hose what could be the problem be please

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

Have you tried replacing the rubber drive belt for the roller?

Dyson brush roller spins intermittently. it starts out good but then stops

Do you have a burning rubber smell at the same time? Turn the machine over and remove the bottom cover. Hook a loop of cord under the belt, pull it up wards and pull the brush out. Remove one end cap and pull the spindle out from the other end. Remove the fluff and hair that is tied around each end.
This shows quite well.

Put the brush back and see if that fixes it. If not, then you need to change the two belts, and possibly the clutch. The same guy at Vacuum spot shows clutch servicing, but you may wish to get a professional to do it. How to check the Dyson DC04 Roller Brush Bearings

If this doesnt resolve the issue, please call our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

The roller that spins with little brushes stopped suddenly and no longer spins. I pressed the red little knob at the end of the roller but it doesn't fix the problem.

open up the roller area check to see if somthing got picked up and jammed into the rollers so that it can't work, a rock or a screw or you might even have a large amount of string or fibers wrapped around the shaft or brush keeping it from rolling

I have my Dyson DC05 for few years. The 'Red light' on its turbobrush is on and cannot get it running. Can anyone help? Thanks, Angus

Hi there Angus, SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. That light normally means the motor is stuffed but it will also light if the roller cant spin. So just check there is no obstuction stopping the roller from turning and also remove the roller and take of the end caps and clean out the debris that ias likely there too. If this isnt the problem unfortunatley you will have to get a new head. Hope this helps. Happy Vacuuming :)
