This reply does not apply to the model I mentioned. This is a single foot long thick string that is inserted into the housing. This is new and i do not have instructions.

What do i need for replacement string? Can i go heavier or stay with the smaller string? This is for mastercraft 20v grass trimmer. thanks

the size of the string is critical in electric driven trimmers
it does have mass and the thicker string will over load the motor
stay with the recommended string size and keep to the recommended distance to the grass being cut
string line cutters work on the principle that the tip speed of the string is what does the cutting and that means that the first 1/2" of string cuts the grass
the rest back to the hub acts like a brake as it is dragged across the grass and slows the cutting speed and loads the motor
remember that the machine is designed to trim edges and not to cut down growth-- that is a job for heavier duty units

I have a 4.6amp/ Hassle Free Weedwhacker that uses green plastic strings. Can someone tell me step-by-step (or diagram) how to insert one into the three holes?

Should have only two holes that are the same size. Forget the third. Place the plastic guard cover on the head first, make sure the holes line up with the grooved tracks then snap cover into head. Take on end of the line and place into one hole until it comes out of the side of the head, (Then stop). Do the same with other end. Now pull both ends equally.

Echo SRM 200 series trimmer is great. I noticed though this summer once I reel in the new string, a short time of trimming later, only 1 side of the string appears. When I open up the reel, the string is...

For your machine, make sure you are using the Manufacturer's recommended trimmer line. For your model, they recommend using Echo brand .080" Cross Fire diameter line. You also need to insure that when you load the spool with the line, that it is loaded (in the right direction) so it can feed properly.

How to load string

See pages 10 and 11 of this manual for string loading instructions and diagrams. You will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view this. If you don't have it, it is a free, safe download for the program.

Can you interchange the curved shaft with a stright shaft for string trimming

Most of the curved shaft models have the EZ link removable coupling system allowing you to use different accesories on the machine. A straight shaft model, however is not removable and the flex drive is of one piece and one length.

Need info on putting line on troy bilt 4-cycle string trimmer. Need to know how to get spool off trimmer to replace trimming string on the spool.

Hold orange spool containing string while twisting the black plastic cap in the center, counterclockwise. This retaining cap is loosely spring loaded, so watch for the spring falling out. Once this locking cap is removed, the spool pulls right off.

When pulling the rope to start it doesn't grab for about 5-6 pull

Unscrew the 3 or 4 screws on the outside of the plate that is part of the pull string housing, there are 2 centrifugal pegs that are sticking due to trimmings getting in that area. Inspect, and clean the pegs that fly out when you pull the string. Do not oil (that will only attract more junk later), make sure they are free, and come out when you pull the string. And your problem will be solved.
