I have the Toshiba DVD/VHS recorder-player and was wondering do I HAVE to use RCA plugs to get it to work? or will any manufacturer's yellow/white/red video plugs work?

RCA plugs & yellow/white/red plugs are the same. They refer to cables used to transmit 'Composite' video (yellow) and stereo audio (red & white). RCA is the buzz word for the type of connectors they use. Probably invented by the company, RCA.

Want to copy vhs to dvd.

I convert VHS to DVD using a Toshiba DVD Recorder that I purchased from Costco a few years back. I plug the VCR into the DVD recorder using RCA jacks, press PLAY on the VCR and REC on the DVD recorder and let it sit and record. I can record up to 8 hours of video onto one DVD at low quality. After this, I finalize the DVD so it can be read on other DVD players.

Connect DVD recorder to Video player/recorder- transfer VHStodisc

hook the video output from vcr to dvd input at rear, then hook output from dvd to tv input. note; you can not record protected vcr movies you can only record tv shows from sattelite to vcr or dvd recorder. its best to record straight from sattelite to dvd recorder for picture clarity.

Want to transfer vhs tape to dvd

not sure why you would need an rca to s-video adapter, almost every dvd recorder and vhs has rca input and ouput.

anyway here is the basics to record from vhs to dvd you would connect the OUTPUT video (yellow) and right and left audio OUTPUT (red and white) to the dvd recorders INPUTS.

Vcr

The vcr and the dvd are separate entities in the same box. I have the DVR610 Toshiba and I connected it to my TV with an HDMi cable and it worked fine for the DVD but I couldn't get the VHS to play. I hooked up RCA cables as it describes in the manual and it works fine. In other words you need a separate connection for each entity.

hi there, a little late.....but here we go........do you have cable? if yes connect the cable from the cable box out to dvd in and connect the dvd out to tv in.......pls note the dvd and tv must be set/tune to ch #3.(and you cannot record HBO)......you dont have cable just tv and dvd you need rca wire (red, white & yellow) also the F connector wire....in back of dvd connect the 3 wires audio in video in (is your tv/monitor a flat panal these connections might be on the side) if not its in the back plug in to out on tv....(this is so you can record)....plug the F conncetor wire from dvd to tv......on this connection you can set the dvd to ch #3 or any ch you want to record...........

Dvd not recording

One touch function won't work from pre recorded VHS tape. Go to
www.RCA.com under this dvd model and read the first line.
Secondly you will have a better luck to use sony dvd+r .
Good luck
