I can unplug like you said and it doesn't come on all the time and when it does it cuts off. I also can turn on cd and the back to to tv sometime and it might work. CD sound works good. I am tech. and it seems to be in mute ckt. May be a common trouble with this unit. I don't have diagram for unit.

  • tantiques Feb 28, 2009

    fuse is good

  • tantiques Feb 28, 2009

Yes I agree with the mute theory. Have you had any other reports of this problem with this model? Boards are expensive. Is ther switching tr or ic that can be changed?

  • tantiques Feb 28, 2009

I have checked everything on ckt. board.everything seems ok. Where do I get ckt board for coby. Do you have address of co.?

  • tantiques Feb 28, 2009

  • tantiques Feb 28, 2009

resistors don't short out. they burn up or open up. some time this tv will work for hours. It looks like theres a lot of guessing going on here. i need factory parts location

  • tantiques Feb 28, 2009

tv is almost new. nothing worn out

  • tantiques Feb 28, 2009

tv picture is perfect. all chans work good and snow free

  • tantiques Feb 28, 2009

i need to talk to tech. that knows something about coby tv sound. everything i have received so far is general info. which i tried before i contacted you

  • tantiques Feb 28, 2009

Resistors that are burned can be seen and the ones you say are shorted turn to charcol. I was in business before you were born. You need to admit you don't know anything about this tv and quit wasting my time.

I've searched the following and have to tell you support for Coby Repair seems impossible to find.
I wouldn't waste any more time.
It appears as though Coby is built not to be repaired but replaced. It's a shame. If I'm wrong and anyone can find support for repair or even service I would love to hear from them.
For now Coby goes into my Poor Support File (No phone #, no offer of substaintal repairs).

Hello, it sounds as if you are having a problem with sound coming out of your tv after awhile. It sounds like there is a resistor heating up and shorting out after it gets hot. There may also be something wrong with the printed circuit board it too can get hot and short out. thank you

Correction risistors do burn up but the can produce enough heat to short out on a printed circuit board. I guess you have never run into that so you need to quit talking about someone guessing.

It is not in mute, the mute on audio circuit will be the same if you use DVD or Tuner.
It is also not a problem with audio circuit, as that would affect all signals.

If it is mute with an external receiver, then it is either a cable/connectors problem, a bad receiver, or a bad input board on TV.

If instead has no sound with only an antenna attached, then the fault is on tuner board or on tuner circuits.

If the TV has an internal tuner board, then you can replace the board.

If you want to repair the TV working at component level, you will better buy the service manual for your model.

You can buy service manual and replacement entering your make and model details here.

I put a DVD into the TV and the TV just blacked out. I unplugged the TV and plugged it back in and still no power. what could have happened?

A DVD needs to be inserted into a DVD player which is plugged into a TV to be played & viewed. Try removing the DVD from the TV & replacing it with a DVD player, then insert the DVD into the DVD player, push play & enjoy!

Can't switch to TV. I removed a DVD that was stucked in it. I continues to ask for DVD or sd card Model is dtv-263-d

Did you remove the DVD without opening the tray? If so unplug the unit and let it unplugged overnight. When you plug it back in it should work unless you damaged something removing the DVD. Let me know how it works out.

sounds like the DVD button on the remote is stuck. try taking the batteries off your remote, press the DVD buttons a few times and put the batteries back. If it doesn't help i suggest try the tv without the remote, see if it makes a difference

No VCR/DVD Picture or sound

Your unit may have been switched to Progressive Scan mode, which a normal analogue TV can't recognise. Check your VCR/DVD manual for instructions to change picture settings and set it back to PAL TV.
Failing that try a new 3 conductor lead from unit to TV.  Also unless you yourself were actually the one who accidentally unplugged the unit, it is just possible that whoever did has not (for whatever reason)disclosed to you the full detail of what actually happened to cause it to fail. If it was in fact dropped or fell, pulling on the AV leads they could have been rendered useless or the unit itself might have suffered a Gforce-shock causing component failure or circuit board fracture.
All the best with this one

No sound

look if you have a DVD or VCR use its receiver! so plug your antenna into the eg:DVD/VCR then connect its audio outs(red)(white) to the tv's (AV)in area. then plug its image out (yellow) to the tv AV in. then switch the tv on, flip ova to AV then tune the VCR/DVD and volla, sound :) good luck. P.S. this is a blown or damaged transistor(FET)(MOSFET) but is easy to fix if you want to, however it will not undermine the rest of the TV as fas as performance or life expectancy goes.
