Question about GE XL1800 1100 Watts Microwave Oven
My GE Spacemaker Model #JVM1650 turntable no longer turns. I bought the microwave new in 2000. I called the appliance company from which I purchased the microwave and asked them if they could repair it and they told me that they could, but that I might as well buy a new microwave because of the high cost to fix the turntable. After reading some of the posts here, I think that they are just trying to sell me a new microwave. Does anyone here know if this model uses a turntable motor or a belt? The manuals I have for this microwave does not give me an answer. And can a novice like me be able to replace the motor or belt? Thanks for the info on this site!
I assume you don't have an illustrated parts list try and Google one up using make and model number etc. It is also a good guide on what needt to be removed and in what sequence.
As far as the novice part, the turntable is a basket case now what can you hurt, this is how we all learned, try to fix it if you cant then call someone who can, not a big deal.
