Question about Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera

1 Answer

I have images on my card, but my Canon EOS Rebel 300D says "no images in the camera or card folder" how can I get them to download. Will they download at a Wal-Mart card reader?

First thing is to buy a card reader and never download directly from camera to computer. card readers can be had for $10-20 now and solve almost all these download problems. I personally wouldn't insert my precious memory card into a card slot at Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreen's etc ever.

Look very carefully at the pins inside the socket.. you might have a bent or broken pin making the camera unable to read the card. Also, if the images on your card are not Jpg or CanonRAW, the camera won't recognize them.

The EOS 300D is called the Digital Rebel in some parts of the world. You can download software for the Rebel from

Windows XP wont dowload ALL images from my Canon EOS 400D

Your canon must be making multiple folders on the card and the computer is only reading the first one. Use a card reader to download your pictures.

My Digital Camera, EOS 300D, Digital Rebel EOS 5D is not compatible with my new Windows Vista. I can't download my images.

There are two was around this:
1) Get an external USB card reader - I recommend this, because it is faster and does not require any software updating
2) Download the latest EOS Utility from the Canon web site; you also need to download the latest drivers. The cameras you name are supported by Vista, but the original software isn't.

Windows Vista laptop doesn't recognize Canon Rebel EOS 300D. Canon website says no driver needed. What next

does your camera have a sd card in it and do you have a sd slot in your computer that is the fastest and easyest way to do that. Other thing to try is go to start > computer > then there should be a drive that says some thing about a camera or some thing just click that and go into the folder. Hope that helps.

Will a quantaray 28-105 1:3.8-5.4 Zoom lens Autofocus from a 35mm rebel ti fit on Canon EOS Digital Rebel 6.3 MP 300D?

The 35mm Rebel Ti and the Rebel 300D use the same lens mounting protocol. All Canon cameras designated 'EOS' use the autofocus EF lenses. If your Quantaray lens worked on the Rebel Ti, it will fit and should work on the Rebel 300D.

Connecting my Rebel to my Laptop

I would highly recommend you to use a fast USB 2.0 compliant Compact Flash card reader to copy photos from your CF card to your PC. This is much faster than trying to copy the files from the camera, as your camera is USB 1.1 compliant (ie. very very slow).

However, if you wish to use your camera to copy files with Windows Vista, you must switch your 300D to operate in PTP (picture transfer protocol) mode instead of Normal one. (in the camera's screen, go to the last tab, and change the option: Communication from Normal to PTP). I am not sure though that the PTP mode will allow you to copy RAW images. You have to check it.

As for the RAW images, I suggest you download and install the Canon RAW codec from:

http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0026049.asp

This codec will allow you to open CRW files directly from the Windows Photo Gallery application. Perhaps if you install this codec first and then try to connect your camera in PTP mode with your PC, to succeed in what you want. Still though, I recommend you to buy a cheap USB 2.0 CF card reader, it will save you hundreds of hours of Camera to PC download time.

Hope this helps.
