Camera Shutting Down

Hi,

My camera keeps shutting down whenever I attempt to take a picture or record video As soon as I press the 'shoot' button the lens will retract, screen goes dark and camera shuts off. I'm not receiving any error messages not does the battery appear to be low. (I am using fully charged rechargeable batteries ) I can easily review pictures and even playback my saved video recordings and all works fine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did this for the same problem on the PowerShot A570 IS and it worked wonderfully (thanks to other poster): For the PowerShot A 430: Take out the batteries, then hold down the power button for 30 seconds or more, then reinstall the batteries. Problem solved!

When Taking Pictures With The Camera On My Phone They Are Upside Down, How Do I Fix This?
When taking pictures with the camera on your phone, there is an option to rotate the camera's vantage point. Pressing the up/down buttons on the side of the phone (Some phones differ but in most cases this would be the Up and Down Volume buttons) it will rotate the camera. If your pictures are coming out upside down, press the volume button to reverse the direction and try again.

Canon powershot elph 320 hs

Hi Doug,
You are right in identifying the cause of the pre-mature shut-down of the camera during video recording. Battery saving features (auto-shut down) detect the camera as idle while you are recording. you could do two things to avoid this;
1. A short term practice is to manipulate the camera to stay on by using the zoom button, taking a snap-shot or anything like that from time-to-time, before the 2 minutes is up. This will keep the camera awake long enough for you to record a good length of video.
2. The second and permanent option is to program the camera - just as you mentioned. You can do that by opening the menu and under camera setting , scroll down till you find the auto-power save. Change the time to your preference

Please note: You have to switch off your camera as soon as practicable while the auto-switch-off time is set at a bigger value to conserve the battery. otherwise the battery will be drained quicker than you imagine.

I hope this helps.

Nikon D90,,,brandnew..the LCD screen flickers when recording a movie and when playback pictures they first come up a little blurry and then when they come to sharp focus the picture shrinks slightly....do...

Hello,

The D90 movie mode is not perfect.
Keep the camera steady when shooting movies to reduce flicker.

It sound like you are not in focus when you start recording the movie. Press the shutter button halfway to focus, then press ok to record.
If you do not want the camera to change focus in shot keep the shutter halfway down.

I hope this helps.

We are in the middle of a production (Live, right now) and one of our XL1's is shutting down whenever we hit the record button.

It may be timing out. Is the camera in standby mode? If yes, put it in record and lock.
I have an XL1 and a GL1 that sometimes shuts down. Is there a tape in the camera? It will time out sometimes if there is no tape rolling. Even if I am capturing directly to a computer, I always roll a tape, just to keep the camera from timing out.
What does your battery guage read in the viewfinder? A low battery will shut you down without warning. Try running from the power adapter if you have one.

Panasonic AG-455 Problem

The noise is most likely bad bearings in the video head assembly. No longer available from Panasonic. The b/w recording problem is most likely caused by a bad video board inside the camera. Unfortunately, the video board is also no longer available.
