Mac is the address in hex of a network card. To get the mac of a network card: go to command line (windows machine) and type the command ipconfig /all. The mac address is the physical address. It will be in the format of 00-00-00-00-00-00, where the 00's are letters and numbers (hex 0-F) To use this you would take the mac address from your wireless card of your computer and enter this number into the mac address filter table of your router. The idea here is when a computer tries to connect to your router, it looks at the table, if the address in not in the table, no connection. Please remember devices only understand what you give them so a typo is not your device....

How can i get my wi-fi to work with my apple Ipod touch on the linksys?

One way to get it to work is to go into the setup screen for the router. You can access it by typing in 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your web browser. Go into the wireles tab then select Wireless MAC Filter. Enable the Wireless MAC Filter and select Permit Only PC's listed to access the wireless network. Now you will need to get the MAC address from your Ipod and any other items that you normally have access the wireless network. Then click on the Edit MAC Filter list. Type in the MAC address for each item in each individual box then click save list. Now the only things that can access your wireless network no matter what are the items on that list.
