Your system is either infected by virus or other malicious software. you have two options for this problem.1. You have to scan your hard disk with strong and latest spy ware if is not solving your problem then 2. you have to perform the low level formatting of your hard disk.

Ways to burn Discs with Finder and Disk Utility in Mac (versions OS X 10.4 -...

Without purchasing new disc burning software, there are actually 3 ways to burn CDs & DVDs in your Mac OS X system (Mac OS X 10.3-10.6)

There are methods using Finder and Disk Utility.

Both are easy to do and when set up to use will have you burning music, video, data, and image files (ISO) to CDs or DVDs in no time at all.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BURNING DISKS WITH FINDER

1.) Create a Burn folder and burn a CD/DVD

* The easiest way to burn a disc with Finder is to create a Burn folder with Finder. Here's how you do that:

* Click on any blank space on your desktop and in an instant, Finder will appear on the Apple menu bar next to the Apple menu icon.
• Click on File and select from the drop down menu

9696d88.png

* This distinctive folder will now appear on your Desktop

597c898.png

* Now insert a blank CD or DVD and in moments, you will see this window pop up:

b3dbf79.png

• Just click the OK button.

* In a few more moments
on your desktop, you will see this Untitled DVD (or "CD: for CD-ROM Disks) icon:

10ec18d.png

• Now you can either drag and drop files into the folder, or just double-click the folder and also drag and drop files into the open Burn Folder window

* If you notice, each file you drag (or copy and paste) into the Burn Folder window will have a small curved arrow at the bottom left corner of the file.
That is merely a designation that the file is a image of the actual file and ready to be burned to the CD or DVD you use.

e3c6169.png

* Notice the Burn button (highlighted in the red box). This is the button you will press, to commence the burn (or copying) of the data you have placed in the burn folder to be copied to disk.

• Click the Burn button, name your disk and that is all it takes. When the process is complete, you will now see a formerly Untitled Disk icon on your desktop replaced with a "Your_new_disc_name" DVD.

(Additional Note: If you wish, you can also simply bypass creating a Burn folder, insert a blank CD or DVD and simply drag and drop or copy and paste files into the open window of the Untitled CD as well.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BURNING A DISC WITH DISK UTILITY

There are actually two ways to burn data to an DVD or CD with Disk Utility:

1.) Burn a disk in Disk Utility

* Simply open Disk Utility by either clicking anywhere on a blank space on your Desktop window and Finder will appear near your Apple menu, select Go >Utilities and that will take you to the Utilities Folder which is the default location of the Disk Utility application.

b90ce30.png

* Or you can click the Finder icon on your Dock, open a new Finder window, click on "Applications" listed in the side window and select the Utilities folder

a166fbd.png

d3fca75.png

* Either way, you will land here.

b417a9b.png

• Insert your CD or DVD.

9974e96.png

* Once you open Disk Utility, you will see this main window

a4997c2.png

* Now all you need to do is click the "Burn" button located on the Disk Utility toolbar.

3017d47.png

* For an example, I am striving to burn a copy of my Quicken .dmg file to CD.

* Once I have selected the file, then I click the Burn button located at the bottom right corner of the Finder window.

4773cc2.png

* Follow the onscreen instructions to start the burn process.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Creating a multi-session disk using Disk Utility:
Now it is known, that one cannot burn more than once with a single CD-R disc, but it can be done as provide from the knowledge base of Apple support:
  • In the Finder, create a folder for the session and drag the items you want to burn into the folder.
  • In Disk Utility, choose File > New > "Disk Image fromFolder." Then select the folder you created in the dialog and clickOpen.
  • Type a name for the image, choose a disk format, and click Save. Mac OS Extended allows burning the disc more than once. Formats such as ISO allow burning the disc only once.
  • When the disk image is complete, select it in the Disk Utility list and choose images > Burn or click Burn in the toolbar.
  • Insert a blank CD in the optical drive.
  • Select the "Leave disc appendable" checkbox. If you don't see this option, click the triangle in the top-right corner.
  • Click Burn.
What is really nice about this CD/DVD burn feature of DIsk Utility, is that now you can come back later and add more files to the same CD without having to waste all the space on a new CD-R.

This especially useful, if the image file you are need to burn is small in capacity. Just pop the previously burned CD in your drive and add that file or files until that CD is filled to capacity- that is all it takes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So there you have it, a quick tip on how to use Finder and Disk Utility to burn any data to your CD and DVDs.

Thanks for viewing my Mac OS X tip from FixYa Support. Stay tuned for more tips for how to make the most of your Mac OS X systems!

Restore aspire X 1800 without a disc

You will need to download the operating system from Digital River. Microsoft contracts that company to keep a server up with all supported products for end users to download in an ISO image. It is free you may need to search around a bit to get to their backweb download server but its there just used it a few months ago. The way an ISO image works is you download the 3gb plus file to your desktop. Once the image file is there stick a blank DVD in your rom. Click the file it will auto burn right to the disk. There ya go a copy of your operating system FREE. Now once its done loading the operating system it will tell you you need to authenticate it. This is because the key you entered was not coded to that copy. Follow the direction to authentic your operating system self explanatory will take a toll free call which the number will be provided on your screen.

If you are having problems installing the disc what you can to is:
- insert the disc on the disc tray ( do not install right away cancel the autorun) - go to my computer (computer) then explore the disc - then create folder on your desktop ( right click on a clear space the select new > folder) - name it as roxio - copy all the contents on the disc ( highlight them all then copy) - paste the file that you have copied inside the folder that you have created on the desktop - remove the disc in the disc tray - then go to the roxio folder from the desktop and locate the filename setup or setup.exe then double click it - run the installation

My girlfriend just gave me a copy of rosetta stone on cd but when i try to load it,it brings up a whole bunch of iso files and no way to install the software is there a program i need to install it...

An iso file is the format used for a cd/dvd. Example: If you create a digital copy of a cd/dvd, it will be in iso format if done correctly.

How it sounds to me, is that your girlfriend copied the cd wrong. Sounds like she created a iso image and just put it on the cd as a file, instead of making a true copy of the cd.

To work with iso images you need to install a program like "Alcohol 120" to create a "virtual drive". Load the ISO file into it and it pretends you are using a real cd-rom. Pretty self explanatory once you have the program installed, tad hard to explain.

I can copy and burn one dvd. When I try and do a

OK I'll try to make this as easy as possible, you may have to get back to me if you don't understand anything but it is simple just follow the instructions below.

2 free programmes to download

DVD Shrink from here(removes restrictions)

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm

ImgBurn from here

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/imgburn.cfm

Install both then put DVD in drive but cancel when it tries to open.

Open DVD Shrink select open disc and wait while it reads it (about 1 1/2 mins)
I suggest you create a folder where you want it to save the temp files to on your desktop but you can do it anywhere.

Select main movie folder then click on back up on the top.

It will tell you where it is going to save the files but you can browse to the folder you created and save them there. As back up target use the drop down menu to select ISO image file. Click ok

Once DVD Shrink has finished you can usr ImgBurn to burn as many copies as you want without the original disc.

I'm trying to move pictures from a cd to my dell laptop

You'll need to download the images onto your laptop before you can send them. Copy them to a newly created folder on your desktop. Once you have moved them you should zip the folder with Winzip, or another program on your laptop that will compress your images into a zip file. When your zip file is created you can attach it to your email. Be sure your file isn't too large or it will never send. You may have to break up your images into smaller files.

Simple way if you have two dvd trays in your computer: just pop in the mini-disk in one tray and load a DVD+r, or DVD-r recordable disk in the tray of the DVD burner. Use the burning software that is available on your computer to "copy the disk".Other way:Just popin your mini-dvd into your computer and drag and copy the file folder (video_ts folder)onto your hard drive. Now, use dvd burning software that supports DVD images. I use the free ImgBurn program from: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ImgBurn. (Remember, use "build mode" within ImgBurn to create the "DVD image" that the program will burn to disk.Disregard all the terminology if you don't understand it. ImgBurn is very simple to use. I mention "DVD image" because the conventional type of disk burning (copying documents, photos, etc. on disk) will just create a "data disk" with files on it. Video files burned in this way will play on computers but not on all stand alone DVD players.
