AMP shuts off

My Sony Amp shuts off when volume or bass is turned up slightly. I have a XM-ZR 604. I have 2 12in Kicker subs that are rated at 1200 watts and the amp is 600.

Your problem could be in the fact that you are trying to overdrive the amp. sony will not carry a 1 ohm stable load and if your speaker are 4 ohm speakers wired in series then you cant drive the bass your looking for. try using soundstream tarantula amp or new hifonics block mono class d amp with about 1000 watts rms. what kicker subs do you have? that will also make the difference in amp choice. im running tarantula on 4 polk momo 4 ohm 12's and has broke my back glass in my jeep twice one time was for a show. oh well let me know. happy boom boom. i'll be glad to help

Not enough bass. should i run a capacitor.adjust my amp and what to set it at for max performance

Turn up the gain on your amp until you get the amount of bass you want or until the sub starts to distort. If you do this and you are still unhappy with the bass, you will need a bigger amp or better subs.

My sony xplod 1200 whatt amps red light keeps coming on all the wires are good when it gos to hit it gos red

check your ohm load on the sub and see if your amp can do the same, That is why every time it shuts off into protection mode. Check your gain level on the amp to this is not a volume knob for your amp, It is to get both the amp and cd player on the same page. Hope this was helpfull

Amp goes into protection

make sure the impedance is right for the amp you're using. If you're using a 4ohm amp and a 2ohm sud that may be the problem. It may be overdriving the amplifer which is bad and can cause damage to the amp. Hope this helps.

Got a 12"kicker L74ohm sub and sony xm-D9001GTR mono amp

Hello juan_penaloz,

The Kicker L7 has an RMS power range of from 50-750 watts and a maximum power handling capability of 1,500 watts so your Sony amp will power it OK. A more powerful monoblock like the Alpine MRP-M1000 or the Kicker 08ZX750.1 would provide even more power and could operate safely at 2ohms.

You have the voice coils wired properly for the Sony amp. It's OK to have the sub impedance higher, but you definitely do not want it lower than the 4ohms the amp is rated at in bridged mode.

Hope this helps.

I have a Sony Xplod XM-1652Z 1000 W. I am using it to power my 2 Infinity 10" subs with 1052 watts on each Max. My problem is that when i turn on the volume too high the subs would stop working. My friend...

Sony audio products are not worth the buck, you will be facing worst problems in the future, my advice is just to change the amps. It is causing the problem, it cant handle frequencies when volume is turned up. and it may say 1000 watts but actually this is the peak rating your amp can handle thus meaning that it couldnt handle constant high volume usage, try crunch, kicker or hifonics amp, and look at the RMS rating on the amps when shoping.

Sony Xplod XM-1652Z Car Audio Amplifier cuts out when turned up loud

The best thing to do is to get a amp that is more watts than your subs, not the other way around, speakers are known to handel a lil more power but amps cant produce more power than they are capable of... your ground wire should be thick also, say 6 to 8 mm or so, and its best to put in a cap and an equalizer.
Cheers

Protection light

You cannot parallel two subs AND run them on the Bridge. You must have at LEAST a 4 ohm load on the bridge, and 2 4 ohm subs in parallel equals TWO OHMS. BAD!!! Move each sub to it's own channel or your amp will soon fry.

Protection mode override

If you have your subs wired to the amp in a bridged configuration, try wiring one to each stereo channel instead. Also, make sure your ground wire is secure and connected to a clean, solid metal part of the vehicle body with the paint scraped off. If this doesn't work, disconnect both subs and try connecting only one at a time; one of the subs may have a problem that is shutting down the amplifier.
