I am assuming that you mean that you have some sort of external device with an optical cable that you want to INPUT to the Panasonic receiver, correct?

The procedure is on page 21 of you manual and goes something like this:

Press [MEMORY] and [TUNE MODE] at the same time to enter the settings mode.
Press [MEMORY] to select the item you want to change (in this case D)

Press [TUNING up or down] to select "on" or "off"

Press [MEMORY] and [TUNE MODE] at the same time to exit the settings mode.

Can't unlock the DVD function on the receiver so get no sound.

You need a coax wire from DVD coax to Receiver Coax input. Don't put the red and white wire from DVD to Receiver because you don't need it. Thats what the coax wire those.
try and see if that works.

No sound from optical or coax digital inputs

You have to use the system setting using the remote and turn on the inputs you want to use. Hope this helps.

Lost my Digital audio signal, stuck on analog

Hi - Please check the setup of the digital inputs as per pages 11, 20. 21 & 37 in the manual.

Most important:

Are you using coax or optical connections? Even if you have not moved them you should check they are securely fitted as they can work themselves out in time.

Let me know how you get on.

Best regards,
Informatica.

Connecting new tv to DRA-685

you can use the headphone jack just get an adaptor to change from the headphone type to RCA type. adjust the volume of the tv to 3/4 of the way to give line level to the stereo, use an aux input on the stereo. if you had a suround sound dolby digital / DTS receiver then use the digital coax out to that type of receiver, but since you have an anolog 2 channel receiver you must use the only anolog source (the headphone).

No sound using digital coaxial connections

Couple of possibilities:
Press Audio Select on front of unit until "Analog" changes to "coax/opt"

or

When you select the component connected to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks as the input source (see page 38), this unit automatically
turns off the digital sound field processor, and you cannot select sound field programs.

Yamaha RX V861 - Phillips DVD - No sound via digital coax

Does your TV support "Line In" or "Aux" or "External"? if so plug your "Low end" DVD directly into the back of the tv and verify that you Can get audio. Quite a few DVD players do have a mute feature. Be sure this is turned "off"...accordianman

Onkyo TX-DS939 optical selection problem help!

That coaxial, opt-1 and opt-2 are available only if they are not selected to some other channel. So you have to check if opt-2 is selected to Video-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,CD or DAT. Change that to Analog and then opt-2 is free to another device.
