Question about Asrock GE PRO-M2 Motherboard

1 Answer

Asrock ge-pro-m2 does not boot

Just what the title says. the computer does not boot windows/cds.
it does POST but after that i get to a screen saying amibios configuration i get the system specs. and the blinking line at the bottom of the page. i cant seem to go farther then that. what exactly should i do?
oh and btw the windows already installed on the system gave an error saying its missing a file i dont really care for that because im formating it and installing a new copy but now it doesnt get to the point of telling me windows is missing a file and cannot boot its just stuck on the amibios configuraion it is not the bios setup menu.. and the keyboard seems to not respond. thx

Try unseating and reseating the memory and CPU and make sure if you have more then one stick of memory keep trying just each one in each different slot each time you boot up to verify whether it might be a memory problem or a memory slot problem and make sure everything is free of dust by using a can of air to blow it away.

Have you tried the hard drive. Try unhooking the hard drive completely from the system then turn it on and see if it goes further. Hard drive might be going bad on you.

The most likely problem is that some of the information is missing. is the Bios file on the Stick and is it un-compressed? you also need to ensure that the Bios flashing software is on the stick. But, for better info, go to the website where you downloaded the BIOS file and read the instructions there. They always give instructions for BIOS flashing. (well I haven't found one that doesn't yet)

Asrock ge pro-m2 whats the best spec i can upgrade to?

According to the downloadable manual on the manufacturer's web-site:

http://www.asrock.com/MB/manual.asp?Model=GE%20PRO-M2

the maximum RAM supported is 2GB, and it is a Socket 478 CPU interface.

Since you don't have the "GE PRO-HT" motherboard,
you cannot use a "hyper-threading" CPU.
So, you can use any non-hyper-threading Pentium/Celeron that has a Socket 478 interface.

I always suggest this and many times I get yelled at, but I'm just trying to help...

Did you plug in both power cords? There are two, one is rectangular and one is a smaller square shaped connector.

If that's not it and you've tried pulling all the cards and devices (RAM, HDD, CD/DVD) then you most likely have a bad motherboard.

Good luck.

Screen not showing anything

Some time the system will work due to insufficient power source this problem may occur replace SMPS and check the CPU heat by touching it. If it warm then the CPU is functioning. Else contact your nearest hardware vendor.

Hope this will solve your problem.
