I tried no user name and admin for the password. It doesn't work I get a 401 authorization error. I called my brother in law who owned it and he doesn't remember the username, or password. Is there a way to completely reset to 0, and start from scratch.? I have also pushed the reset button.

    Thanks,

    Lisa g

I did this, will this able me to reset the user name and password?

If you do not already know the password for the router, the only way to reset the password is to use the small reset button in the back of the router. That will reset all of the settings to the routers default.

If you are trying to change the router password you could try the following instructions:

    1) Open your Internet Explorer program or any other web browser.

    2) In the Address Box at the top of the browser window, type http://192.168.1.1 and then click on Go, or press the Enter key on the keyboard. A window should appear in the center of the screen asking for your User Name and Password.

    3) Leave the User Name box blank. Type admin in the Password box, then click on OK, or press the Enter key on the keyboard.

Note: To change the password from admin to a more secure password:

    1) Click on the Administration tab when the Linksys Wireless Router Setup page appears.

    2) Type the password you want in the Password: box next to Local Router Access.

    3) Click on Save Settings.

You need to unplug the router, hold the reset for 20 seconds...plug it back in, let it boot, press and hold reset for another 20 seconds.  Unplug it and wait for 10 seconds and reconnect the power.

Need to reset my Linsky Cisco wusb54gc

When you forget your Linksys router password, you will need to reset it back to the factory defaults. You can restore the router configuration to back to the factory by following the steps outlined below: 1. Hold in the reset button of the router for 30 seconds. 2. Unplug your power cord for 30 seconds 3. Plug back your power cord 4. Wait for a few seconds then release the reset button. NOTE: ¨ When holding in the reset button, make sure that you do not release it until you are sure that it has been compressed for at least 30 seconds or more. ¨ This procedure resets the router back to all its factory default settings thus apart from affecting your username and password, it will also affect your configuration and IP addressing. Once this is complete, you can now login and reconfigure your password. To do this: 1. Connect a PC to one of the Linksys router Ethernet ports 2. Open your web browser and go to the URL http://192.168.1.1. This will take you to a web page with a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login required to login to your router 3. On older LinkSys routers, the username is set to blank and the password is set to "admin" (without the quotes). On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin". 4. Click on login. You have logged in to the Administrator account and are now able to access and change a number of configuration options for your router. 5. Click on management tab then change your administrator password to any password that you like. Remember to choose a strong password that others cannot guess but that will be easy enough for you to remember. 6. You can also choose to reconfigure other aspects of you Linksys router at this point.

Need to reset my password

  1. This worked for me on my netgear router not sure if it will work on a linsky hope this helps anyway
  2. Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
  3. From the left-hand navigation menu of the Router Manager, select Set Up > Wireless Settings.

3. From the center screen, select your encryption type from under the Security Options heading.

    • If the wireless network passphrase is visible, review it and use it to log devices onto your network.
    • If it is not visible, you can change your wireless passphrase; however, changing the passphrase will cause you to lose your wireless connection. Connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable before entering a new passphrase into the text box and clicking Apply.
If you cannot log into your router:

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.

NOTE: Restoring factory defaults on a device will erase any customizations you have made. You will lose any configurations saved to the device!

How do i put a password so nobody in my building can get on my ;linsky

open a browser window and then type http://192.168.1.0 or http://192.168.1.1 and enter your router settings. change settings including password. unless you've set it up differently and actually have a username and password, leave the username space blank and use "admin" as the password. that's often the default password on a linksys. linksys has a great support page. they have the drivers, manuals, the works. the manual will also have the default password, plus how to do the default reset. here's the link http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/

How can I retrive my password or wep key off my Belkin wirelless router I bought a new laptop and can't acess my router

Use a wired computer to access the setup page of the router.

On the browser's address bar, type 192.168.2.1.

By default, leave the password field blank.

Once on the setup page of the router, go to Wireless then Security. You can get the WEP key from this screen.

Or if you would like to turn off wireless security, just change the security mode.

However, I strongly suggest to enable wireless security so that other people will not be able to use your wireless network.

I hope this helps!

Linsky password

If you're after the default userR/password to log in to the admin-intaserface on the router it's usually ussername=root and password=admin

If it's the wep-key it's asking for there are software that can fetch this from your computer, but it's probably just as quick and easy to change the wep-key in the router and set up your writeless computers with that key.
