SOURCE: Can an old Toastmaster toaster be refurbished?

there is no manual forthe repair of toasters . but the toaster you have is a common one on e bay , i dont see one right now but there have been a few over the years , and a well used one sells for around 10.00 , it may not work but its great for parts ( i collect and restore kitchen appliances) so i would take a look . you might find a cream puff for 20 .00 and put yours into retirement ..... other than e bay there not a lot of resources out there for parts . good luck ........Please if this answer helped , please rate this 3 or 4 stars . and keep me in the paid answer department . A 1 or 2 may knock me down into the unpaid ranks. Thanks Cactus Bob

SOURCE: I changed the element in my Dualit toaster; still doesn't work

If I understand well the blackened wire is an overheated wire which it is probably but off in one point so no electricity comes to the element anymore.
However overheated wire in you metalic toaster is a very danger thing to have and need to replace all the wires you have noticed that they changed color or not look good contition.
The problem have been caused from a problematic element which is the one you have already replaced.
However you if after you replace the wires you need to inspect the toaster after some time in order to be sure that not any other element causing the problem.
Good luck.

SOURCE: Our 4-slice toaster (model 4cbc) is only toasting

Inside your toaster there are eight heating element plates six in the center and one in left end and one in right end.
Just switch on the toaster without any bread at maximum time and visualy inspect to see which side is becoming red and which not. Then you need to replace the element plates you see that they don't become red.
Remember that the two in center are the same called "CENTER" and the other two on ends are the same called "END"
They can easily be removed if you remove the bottom panel.
Good Luck

Chances are very slim your toaster oven is repairable anyway if the heating element burns out. A replacement part is not available, and there's no way to reliably repair a break. Even if it could be fixed, the low replacement cost makes it uneconomical. Parts and labor would run close to $50, maybe even exceed that price.

Unless you can find a part and do the repair yourself, small appliances today are throw-away items.

Far right side coil panel not working.

Good observation!-- Let's take that a little further?-- Are you willing to tear into it, and check it out further?
Your toaster likely has 4 heating elements, correct? (Or possibly 3-- if the center shares toasting the 'inside' of both slices all the time?)

Anyway-- you are concerned with the outside element-- Something is 'open' in that circuit to that element only.
Can you remove the exterior, and get into the interiro, so we cn look for a broken wire?
BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE PLUG FROM THE OUTLET!!

Look for a supply wire, that has broken off, or one of the heating element wires has separated-- either from itself, or the junction where it connects to the power.

Temporarily you might be able to join the break-- but the permanent solution is to replace this element.

o replace the element, we will need make, model, serial number, and will have to do some searching for the part.

How far do you want to go on this repair?

The toaster (upper) part of our 4-slice toaster oven model 6067 suddenly stopped working after several months of using it consistently. Will return it to Target but hoping it's an easy fix. We kind of like...

Hi there. I just repaired mine. The wire connected to left side (as you are looking at the front of the toaster) of the front top heating coil had come off. I replaced all four of the crimps going to each side of each of the top two heating coils as well as the wire going between the front and back coils on the left side. Make sure that you use HIGH TEMP crimps and HIGH TEMP wire. I had the crimps and purchased the wire from a ma and pa repair shop here in my town1_24_2012_10_47_09_pm.jpg

Heating units bottom stopped working. Then the top heating bars stopped working. It's a radiant oven.

it is several prosibilites for your problem:
1) the wire of the oven is damaged;
2) the thermostat is decalibrated or damaged;
3) one or more heating element is intrerupted or burned.
solution's:
1) check the wire an replace or repair where is posible whit similar heat resistant wire;
2) replace the thermostat whit similar one;
3) replace the heating element

Bread will not stay down; element does not get hot (Kenmore toaster- 10 -12 years old). I don't know if there is spring that needs to be replaced or if the element itself is gone. How would I test for this...

Hi and welcome to Fixya. There is a simple test you can do with an ohm meter across the heating element connections.

The unit must be unplugged and your going to have to remove the cover.

Check for any signs of low resistance across the element connections. No resistance or infinity and the element is history.

Any sliced bread toaster with a failed heating element will have the symptoms you described. However, it could also be the mating contact has failed which is closed when the bread holder is in the down postion.

My experience... 10 - 12 year old toasters are not worth repairing unless it is a commercial type unit. By the time you order the needed parts and pay the shipping you far exceed unit replacement costs. Repair costs rise even more if you ship it or hand carry it to a repair service center.

The centre element in my 4 slice model has gone. Can this be replaced?

Don't know if you can get the heating element as separate part. But, this can probably be repaired. It's likely either a burned connection/connector or the heating element is broken.

Bad connectors can be replaced, the heating element can be just twisted back together where it is broken.

Our 4-slice toaster (model 4cbc) is only toasting part of one side of the toast, as if a heating element has burned out.

Inside your toaster there are eight heating element plates six in the center and one in left end and one in right end.
