Question about Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5895 Notebook

Laptop locked Satellite L305D-S5895 purchased approx. 10/08 is locked up requesting $49.95 security update. What is this and can I override it.

    Like, Ekse mentioned, you probably got infected with some kind of malware. You should name the application, so we can reffer you to the solution. Meanwhile you could try scanning the system with SpyBot S&D, Ad-Aware, MalwareBytes etc.

I would call toshiba customer support @ 1 800-457-7777. Since your laptop was purchased 10/08 it is still under warranty

Bios battery in a toshiba L305D-S5895


Hello. Well, Toshiba laptops are hard to dissasemble and get to the bios battery. It is well hidden. For that you have to remove entire motherboard.

you can go to the toshiba support web site at http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp# once there go to the download link on the top menu and select your product.

What is the model of your laptop? Is it brand new?
If its brand new, I suggest that you bring it back to your retailer to resolve the issue. If its old, I suggest that you should check the battery pack, perhaps you need to change the battery, or it should be send for maintenance, especially if you have for more that 2 years.
