First of all, open the microphone up and take a look at the wiring. Make sure that the XLR Wiring and the onboard wiring is soldered into the electrical system. Then, make sure that the grounding wire is not torn up. Also, check the wiring leading up to the diaphragm. Finally, make sure that the diaphragm is clean from some foam disintegration and that the plastic is not torn up completely. Aside from that, make sure that you are not using phase switch nor the phantom power. Although I haven't seen a dynamic wrecked by this, you never know..

Your mic may in fact be messed up, but for the love of Pete, turn off that Phantom Power!

Trying to get microphone to work for a Samsung giga beat sound

What kind of mic are you using? If it needs Phantom power to work then you're SOL. Invest in a real PA system and you won't regret it. Mackie, Yamaha, Behringer all make good, inexpensive public address systems that will leave your Samsung in the dust.

My at4033a/sm is about 6 years old and only used 2 or three times .plugged it in...there is no sound

I have two words for you...Phantom Power.

Electrete condenser mic's MUST have phantom power to operate. Look for "Phantom Power" button on your Jackie (surely means Mackie) and try it again BUT turn volume down before engaging phantom power or testing mic.

The Electro Voice Cardinal Mic that I bought never worked right out of the box. I sent it back to the manufacturer while under warranty & they sent me back the mic - - - don't know if it's the same or...

That microphone is a condenser type of mic. It needs to have phantom power (48V) in order to operate. Phantom power is available on most, if not all, audio mixing consoles. Hope this helps.

How to connect behringer ultragain pro mic

Here is the manual:http://www.behringer.com/EN/downloads/pdf/MIC2200_P0054_M_ENG.pdf Plug your microphone into the input using a proper cable. Plug another balanced cable into the output on the back and plug it into a microphone input on the mixing board. If your mixing board already has phantom power, disable it for that input as the MIC2200 has phantom power. Read the manual carefully and take note of the directions for phantom power and balanced cables. Make sure you follow the directions carefully. If you need the manual in a different language look the MIC2200 up under products at Behringer.com and you can download in pdf format in many different languges.

Shure sm58 mic does not have full power

You should consider a microphone with more power to get the volume you need. I can personally recommend the CAD C195 Cardoid Condensor microphone. It has great output. The only downsidefor most people is that they don't have phantom power. This is what gives the mic its boost. In order to get the most out of any micrphone, you need to have a preamp, an equilizer, and an output. The output is your PA system that drumbanger mentioned.

But since you are using a Peavey, here is my strong recommendation. Get a mini preamp, and hook it up to your Peavey. You can use a Behringer 2mic mixing board for your preamp. It's small, and it can sit right on top of the Peavey.

The reason why I suggest the two-mic XENYX 802 and not the 1 channel 502, is that the 1 channel doesn't have phantom power.

In order to connect the XENYX to your Peavey, this is all you need. You can get one at radio shack for pretty cheap.
