Question about ElectroVoice RE20 Professional Microphone
My board is a Mackie 1202-VLZ Pro... Phantom Power is on... My $20 Radio Shack mic works but the RE20 will not...
No sounds comes out of it what so ever.
If you've tried a different cable and it still doesn't work it probably the capsule. The capsule is available for $224.00 .If you send it in for repair it's only $200.00 and they give you a warranty.Contact Telex Communications @ 1 800 553 5992 and talk to a represenative and they will give you the info you need to send it in for repair.

First of all, open the microphone up and take a look at the wiring. Make sure that the XLR Wiring and the onboard wiring is soldered into the electrical system. Then, make sure that the grounding wire is not torn up. Also, check the wiring leading up to the diaphragm. Finally, make sure that the diaphragm is clean from some foam disintegration and that the plastic is not torn up completely. Aside from that, make sure that you are not using phase switch nor the phantom power. Although I haven't seen a dynamic wrecked by this, you never know..

Your mic may in fact be messed up, but for the love of Pete, turn off that Phantom Power!
