AOC LCD Screen (LM726) Flickers on then off

Hi, my AOC LM726 LCD screen flickers on for a brief moment then, goes off, restarts and repeats itself. U can just glimpse whats on the screen then it turns off, the power button turns off, then on and repeats the following action, Huh? Never worked with lcd screens, but i know that the back light & inverter are the usual culprits, does anyone know how i can test if they are in need of replacement, or maybe fix? Any help is welcome. Cheers Cam.

Thank you for your quick response, um yea i only just got given the screen from a mate, who just bought a new one so i don't know about a warranty, but it isn't that old so maybe. I have also checked the board and there is no faults, checked capacitors for bulges, zilch, nothing perfect condition. Could the bulb having trouble starting?
    Cheers, Cam.

Thank you, it seems that it probably would come under warranty, but since he bought it a couple of years back hes lost the docket and documentation for it :(, I've opened it up and am having trouble finding the back light, but i might go and get a mate i know to have a look at it. Anyways thank you for helping me.

Well with my experience when an LCD monitor does that it usually is something in the power board on the inside. If it is still under warranty I would suggest getting it RMA'ed back to AOC. Here is the page where you can start the RMA process with AOC.

Just click on USA RMA Request form, then click you agree, then fill out the form and then submit. They should get back with you pretty quick.

Hope this helps, and don't forget to rate.

Laptop screen flickering

The video inverter may be failing, BUT...

More than likely the backlight is failing. If you can still see a VERY faint image on the screen this is almost certainly the problem. This is a very difficult fix. I recommend a replacement LCD.

It MIGHT be a bad lcd cable. With the laptop on, slowly open it from closed to open and back again and see if there is a position where the laptop screen does not flicker or turn off, [or if it does turn off if it turns back on.

If the screen goes COMPLETELY black then your GPU is failing.

Cant display

need to find out if the issue is with the display, power chord, vga cable, vga card or the connectors...

1. disconnect all the cables from the LCD or the monitor, now just connect the power chord and power on the display and now see if it gives you any display

2. Try swapping the power chord with the tower (if its a desktop).

3. Try and change the VGA or the HDMI cable to test if the issue is with the cable or not, (the cable that usually goes from the back of the display to the tower)

If the issue is with video card then launch PSA on your Dell machine and perform LCD bist test.

To launch PSA:

1. Restart the system.

2. At the Dell logo screen, press <F12>.
Some systems do not have an F12 key, to access the boot options you have to press the <0> (zero) key at the Dell logo screen.
3. At the One Time Boot menu, press the <Down> arrow key to highlight Diagnostics, then press <Enter> to begin PSA.

4. Write down any error codes listed.

Steps to perform LCD BIST after PSA is launched:

1. Watch the screen and listen for the color bar test prompt tones emitted by the PSA Diagnostics. If the screen is visible, one will see the PSA diagnostics draw a series of multi-colored bars across the screen. When completed, a prompt asking if the pattern was seen appears, accompanied by a brief series of tones.

2. Press <N> or wait approximately 30 seconds to fail the color bar test.

3. Watch for the LCD BIST color generation and listen for the beeps every 2 seconds that indicate LCD BIST is running.
LCD BIST runs for approximately 20 seconds, then stops. The 3-3-3 or 3-3-4 error code is then displayed when the LCD BIST is complete. If LCD BIST does not initialize, then the system may not have been upgraded to PSA version 3019.

Screen flickers lighter to brighter and then black screen. Does not reboot. Have reloaded everything and restored register.

Sounds like a bad LCD Power Supply... once warm is shut off... I'm not qualified to fix or advise... but this should point you in the right direction...

My Sony PCG-FR130 laptop has a screen problem. The screen flickers and is very dim. When I hook up an external monitor it does not display.

Most laptops have a setting to change to external or some will display both at the same time. See what the settings are capable of in your user manual. If you do not have it, look it up on the web.

X5DAL-G restart

if theres a click, then its either the hard drive or the monitor click when it shuts off, motherboards don't make a sound. When its starting up press F8 to enter safe mode and select last known good configuration and see if it starts as normal, but is sounds as though the boot.ini is damaged on a bad sector of the hard drive and either try a windows repair or replace the hard drive.
