The normal lifetime for almost all lamps for projectors are 2500-3000 hours in EKO-mode and about 1500-2000 hours in normal-mode

You will notice that the lamp is goint out of time by the light of it, the image will be darker and darker untill the lamp dies/explodes.

If your image isen clear you have to clean your projector, and by that i mean a realy good clean inside it. If you arent sure how to do it i sugest you leave it to a repairshop to do the work, its not expensive and they will do it properly.

Btw, if you ned to buy a new lamp, let me know, i know where you can order a new lamp to realy good price.

Good luck
Nic

A lot of projector lamps / bulbs only have 2000hrs of expected life. that's about a year if you use it to watch TV. Do you have a backup to try out ?

Hi i replaced my bulb for Sony VPLBW5 now i am not getting a clear picture anymore, its very distorted and something seems very wrong

Hi,

It's very unlikely that this is a due to a faulty bulb.

It's possible that there is a fault with the projector which existed before you relamped it, (i don't know the exact circumstances) but you could try the following steps

1) If the old lamps still works, remove the new one and replace it with the old one. fire the projector up and see what happens. If nothing happens replace the new one again, making sure you don't touch any glass parts (as it can shorten lamp life) or any other internal parts.

2) Turn the projector on and check the image with different picture sources and cables to rule out a fault there. Is the image distorted while the projectors warms up and displays the startup screen? If the image looks correct the problems is likely to be outwith the projector. If the startup image is distorted then the problem is likely to be with the projector.

You should ensure that the lens is free from obstructions. It won't make much difference in most instances but you could clean it with a soft cloth, taking care not to damage it.

Hopefully these steps will help you fix the problem.

IXD 420U projector takes a long time to project and has pink ima

If possible, try to replace the VGA cable between the projector and the computer. A bent or broken pin, or a damaged wire, can prevent the blue or green (or both) portions of the picture from being displayed. The result is a reddish/pinkish picture.

As for the long time to project an image, this could be an extended warm-up time. How old is the bulb in the projector? Does the projector have an option to display the hours used and/or remaining on the bulb? Bulbs do have a finite life, and when they near the end of their service life, they can become more difficult to start.

Hope this helps!

One of our Epson PowerLite projectors was working

We found that the bulb was dim because it was about to burn out. The projector's filter han't been kept clean, causing it to run hot, which in turn shortened the bulb's life.

Is there any way to check the bulb life on a Sanyo PLC-XU30 projector? I know some projectors have an option on the menu screen which lets you know how long the bulb has left. Its just that i bought it off...

on my XU 55 the trick to read the lamp hours is to press and hold down the power button in about 20 seconds when the projector is turned on. there will come a window in the upper left corner that tells about total hours and lamp hours. the window will disappear quite fast, so one might need to do it twice.

Projector turns on but no light or image from lens.

The bulbs do not always look broken when dead. You say it is used often. The life of a bulb is around 1400 hours I believe. This normally equates to a year or two depending on your usage levels. Did you notice your image getting dimmer in the months before it stopped working? This would be a good sign it was in need of replacement. Are the lights flashing very rapidly or blinking slowly? If they are flashing very rapidly this indicated the bulb will not fire and needs replacing.

PROJECTOR POWERS DOWN

This would appear to be a bulb that has reached end of life -- or the projector thinks that it is because of hours. Usually most bulbs are 1000 or 2000 hours. Depending on your projector there are different ways of checking bulb life hours -- if you Google your projector model number and "bulb life" you will usually get a post on how to check these hours. Also, if it is a new bulb and you haven't reset the hours counter, it may need to be reset (however you also don't want to wait too long before changing a bulb that has reached EOL since they can and do explode sometimes taking out the projector with it).
