Question about Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Digital Speaker System Computer Speakers
I've had my speakers in storage for about a year and I just took them out to set them up.
I have them connected to:
Cable TV - Digital Optical
DVD Player - Digital Coax
Computer - Direct 6
The problem is I only get sound through Stereo and Stereo 2X effect. None of the surround sound (PLII Movie - PLII Music) effects work. I get no sound at all from them.
When I use the test function I also get no sound at all.
Can you please help?

Bad connection on that one speaker, if you have tested the system with other equipment and it works thn you MUST have a bad connection INSIDE you DVD player. If your DVD had a whole channel out on your output amplifier I beleive then 2 speakers would not work so more than likely you have a bad solder joint inside system for DVD output

First things First:
1) change the digital opt, cable, for another with cooper conduction. **
2) check connection again on low volume.

SOURCE: hook up z-5500 suround to a tv
The Sony has (http://b2b.sony.com/Solutions/product/KDL-46S4100)
Digital Audio Output(s): 1 (Rear) Optical Digital Output
The Logitech speakers have (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/224&cl=GB,EN)
Digital optical for DVD or CD players, PlayStation®2, Xbox®**
To do this, you need a Digital optical cable--Search Googe for this: Cables Unlimited Pro A/V Series - Digital Audio Cable (optical) - 6 ft
